I did a shit ton of work on this a few years back. Annoyingly, this is an area still largely seen as objective rather than subjective by companies. Just had a quick look and when the system was upgraded for the Olympics (2011), measurements were taken based on the Speech Transmission Index (STI) and the space was rated 0.51 (0 = shit, 1 = excellent), which amazingly hits the target for spaces of that type (big spaces with lots of natural reverberation). As long as they hit the numbers, I don't think it matters what it sounds like to you and me.

I was allowed in to do my own tests as part of my degree and measured clarity levels. The ideal C50 value in a large space is 4-6dB and the Ricoh came out at 1-2dB...

Interesting right?......Right? Hey, wake up!
Makes a pleasant change to see some facts and figures and science instead of hearing people opening their mouths and letting their bellies rumble! Before I get pelters, I include myself in that category. Keep up the good mouth.

I was involved with the project at the time the PA system was installed. Along with the CCTV, Fire alarm and Turnstiles. They were advised heavily to go with a more adequate system but shall we say went down a more economic route.
I have no idea how it cost so much to build and fit out!

You've got to allow for the pre ambles fp.
The initial ground cleansing and preparation, that includes the basememt beneath the Casino basememt.
Then knock off somewhere between £15M-£20M for the Jaguar hall etc.
I'm pretty sure and confident like for like build cost on stadium bowl is nominally more than the Kingpower, allowing for inflation and switching contractor late on.
Was that £35M or £38M, one of those figures relates to them I think the second relates to us.

It is shit but so was the PA at Highfield Road, it either defended you or you couldn't hear it depending on where you were sitting.

Walker stadium estimated at around 37m to build but I think Incester only paid about 27m due to going bust. Birse alone wrote off 5.5m worth of debt.

I have....i think the issue with the Ricoh is that highway works nearby have been bundled into the costs due to it being a council build.
