Love him trying to say it wasn't.

Good free kick though.

He's got to try, I guess but he was never going to win that argument with goal line technology, was he? It was well taken, refreshing to see a different one.

3 minute gap between the red card and the penalty being taken yet 1 minute of added time? How does that work then? I'd love to know how much of the 90 minutes a ball is actually in play.

I suppose now it's 1-1, Japan will sit back in the second half and defend the point, like most unfancied teams have done so far.

What's with the desperation to include a woman on every panel now? Seems a bit forced.

If that happened during the Women’s World Cup they’d be uproar.

Extremely good point ,half of it from Goalie goes walkabout.
They need to card them If they try to delay the taker.

I agree about Aluko but think Alex Scott is pretty decent.

Japan need to score soon with all these chances or they'll regret it

As I said to Grendel thr other day, Is she not qualified to comment on a football game?

They may well be as they have played international football. Don't mind the one on BBC too much but ITV is woeful.

It should be done on merit and ability as a pundit not just because they are female and are needed to tick a box.

I am all for equality, the woman on BBC is better than some pundits so keep her on for some games if that's what they want but the fact they are both suddenly doing it (as well as Sky) make it look like a box ticking exercise.

I think Alex Scott’s okay but her voice is the worst for me, it’s the accent more than anything I think

Japan look well worth a win here. Colombia can't get to grips. An as I type that, Japan do get a second! Well deserved and been on the cards for a while.

I think it would be a good idea for a rule to be brought in that if you are sent off you have a set amount of time to get off the pitch, say 25-30 seconds.

Anyone who continues to argue the case past that gets a game automatically added on to their ban.

Ridiculous today that the Colombian player was sent off but stayed on the pitch for minutes afterwards arguing his case.

That'll be an emotional win I imagine with that earthquake in Japan yesterday. Yet another game where the favourites haven't had it their way.

Looking forward to this one. Sénégal got a good chance of getting out of the group - got the big defender Koulibaly at Napoli, Gueye at Everton, Kouyaté at West Ham and of course Sadio Mane. Also the youngest player in the tournament starting Ismaïla Sarr who rejected Barca

I can see The Guardian went full libtard in regards to Aluko.

Complain when there are no females there, then complain when they are there.

Has Aluko spoke out about this and whether she found it insulting/patronising? Evra isn’t even a pundit is he? Just someone they’ve drafted in as a bit of a personality

Been trying to find some stats on what % of footy fans are female not easy but the best I could find suggest around 25%.
That puts us 17th out of 22 with Brazil top on 50%,USA bottom on 7%.
I think they are due some representation within presenting and commenting on the game.
If anyone wants to argue it's over the top I really couldn't say without scrutiny but reading about their choices for following the sport is very much the same as from a Male perspective.
We all have taken our daughters along for instance, in spite of the 'She said Yes Marlon ' chants etc ,which was too much for Anne Lucas for instance.
I'd guess the money men behind the game would see expansion of this demographic as positive and worthy of exploiting ,or If the Womens game on it's own took off take the benifit there .
That's an interesting Stat from Brazil though wonder If that is a Cultural factor?
