Going back to the Jimmy Hill days Southend seemed to be a bit of bogey team, I remember them winning at Highfield Road 4-3 despite a Terry Bly hat-trick and the next season beating our at the time all conquering third division promotion team 5-2 again at HR, I am going to consol myself with that bogey team theory and move on

Nothing wrong with physical football, it is the dirty cynical football that needs to be eradicated.

Pretty much sums it up. We paid extra to watch from the directors box and the view (but not the football) was a lot better. Years since the view of the goal has been blocked by stanchions though!
