"We been broken down
the lowest turn
and been on the bottom line
sure ain't no fun
but if we should be evicted from our homes
we'll just move somewere else
and still carry on
Hold on, Hold on, Hold on
The only way is up, baby
For you and me, baby
The only way is up
For you and me"/QUOTE]
Have you been speaking to Fisher?
"We'll Fight Till The Game Is Won" -- what a joke ! Fight ? They don't know the meaning of the word. Yep, George Curtis, Mick Kearns, Lol Harvey -- all fighters. Colin Stein in latter years was a fighter !
It's the 'Tottenham or Chelsea' bit that makes me cringe. If we were put on the same pitch as either of those teams it would be double figures.
It's about time the whole song was changed! It was spot on when we were promoted with JH, which I remember well, but not anymore. It's so cringeworthy!
While we're on about the sixties ,skill and desire was'nt exclusive to then.Watched the FA cup again today while minding my Grandson, both were on display in abundance .That was a TEAM with one truely household name ,three or four recognised players the rest pretty much journeymen . So enjoyable ,boy they made those Spurs superstars look so ordinary, and thats what we got from them for the majority of that season, robbed of a successive season of excellence through the ban in Europe. Is first division football so sophisticated that this present bunch ,when in possession keep the ball , move it Forward including themselves ,hell maybe even run with it , at a decent Tempo to be able to create the space to attack the opposition goal. There have been rule changes ,ball changes ,fitness progression apparently ,but the most noticable difference between then and now aside from the obvious Team ethic ,will and desire, was the directness of our approach ,not route one but the speed at which we moved the ball forward to break into the other half
Agree with you it aint rocket science but as strachen said we supporters don't know what we are talking about9 ( yes ok chip on shoulder tosser jock)
But wingy I hope your not setting your grandson up for supporting the sky blues............... oh the heart ache you are going to give him
PUSB
Players come and go with regularity.
How many testimonials do you get these days? Players barely last a season if they are any good. Snapped up as soon as they show promise. On the other hand though you then get stuck with the likes of David Bell for 4 years.
Well he's 3.5 yrs Cloughie and at least two years into CCFC ,i've watched it minimum 15-20 times with him ,he knows that entire squad and many other of our old stars from the last 20-30 years, the damage is done .I pray they give him some pleasure when he's a little older and the taunts from the plastic fans @ school start .Somehow we manage to have a ball on a Saturday afternoon ,but as the naivety wears off , I hope he does'nt start kicking the cat.
