They know something we don't? (1 Viewer)

If he has signed an extension, then brilliant. Would suspect there would be clauses such as if we do not get promoted this season or next then he can look elsewhere, but at least he wouldn't be running his current contract down and moving for less than he is currently worth. Also Leeds and Everton not gauranteed to be in PL next season anyway. Great work by the club if indeed they have pulled this off.

Imagine this news and ground deal in one scoop ahead of new season tickets being released

Think over a few days it would have leaked by now.

Can only assume it was a mistake, maybe misinterpretation of the rumours a contract has been offered. No chance they would know before word getting out.

4 year deal I'd heard with the intention of him staying

Weirdly I’ve heard 2 year deal, 20m clause. We wanted 25 but agent said no. No idea about the wages though. Take it with a pinch of salt though

was told there’s still feeling he’ll leave though. Just on more favourable terms to us
We’re you that fly on the wall then ?

If true, and it’s proper money with a high release clause, the club has turned a massive corner. This is the type of thing a proper high end championship/lower prem club does. As opposed to letting your best players walk away for free or taking peanuts a season or two before the next club get millions (hi Joy).

99% certain this is just a commentator not knowing what he's on about although its an odd thing to pluck out of thin air.

Suppose there's a 1% chance a deal has been done and not announced, only reason I can think of for that is if they wanted to announce it right as they put season tickets on sale but that seems far too organised for our club!

I think that’s reasonable. If we play hard ball, we end up with 10-15m tops with one year left on his contract!

I think he will be offered if not already been shown a very good deal to extend, if signed it will be a big statement of intent. And show Doug King is putting the pieces together to go for the prem as well as securing a better deal for the club down the line.

Going to be a very important couple of months for the club on and off the field, probably some of the biggest. Could be time to buckle up, as i get the feeling this is not the club most of us know or knew, never a dull moment, thats for sure.

I got excited when I heard that during the highlights.

Me just after checking I hadn't missed some massive news.

Robins seemed a little coy on this when asked on CWR. Initial response was "That would be good news wouldn't it", followed by "nothing in it". Certainly didn't seem to be ruling out the possibility. I'm probably reading too much into it. 🤣
