How are you supposed to grow organically when tycoon arseholes come in and bid loads more than market value for players and inflate wages to obscene levels? You’re talking like the answer to Man Utd legitimately becoming strong is to just whore every club out to the highest bidder.I’m one of these people who doesn’t agree with not allowing teams to move up. The fuck up was allowing United to become a PLC in the 90s and loophole that.
how are you supposed to organically grow when the deck is stacked towards the teams already.
United were paid more prize money than most of the teams in the CL because of legacy. Why are the Villa for instance having to sell whilst United can spend another 200m ?
I don’t care what Birmingham are doing. Their owners have ambition. They don’t want to hang about in league one.How are you supposed to grow organically when tycoon arseholes come in and bid loads more than market value for players and inflate wages to obscene levels? Assume you also welcome what Birmingham are doing in League 1?
You'd be able to do that though. You can’t within law charge someone twice. They don’t deserve to be sanctioned because the rules are pure bollocks.
I said it earlier it’s just bitterness and jealousy. If I became a billionaire over night there’s not one person in here that wouldn’t be cheering me on to spend 500m
If we had become a Saudi puppet like Newcastle I’d stop supporting the club.I don’t care what Birmingham are doing. Their owners have ambition. They don’t want to hang about in league one.
Ultimately the prem shouldn’t have allowed United to go PLC or allowed Abramovic to come in. But they did and they benefitted from the better foreign players coming in. Sky paid more for the rights and it was marketed brilliantly overseas.
yes you need a tycoon now - but that’s only because the prem fucked it up earlier. I’m assuming if Doug filtered 100m through King of Shaves last year you’d be outraged?
Leicester City nil points!!!!!
Suck it up boys.
We do face a charge for the actions of our players in the 93rd minute vs Villa so eager than a fine we’ll probably get deducted 10 points.
EFL couldn’t do us as we’d spent time in PL and PL couldn’t do us as we’d spent time in EFL. What a defence and it worked due to PL wording of rules being so appalling.
Gifts get messy though, they’re taxable - ultimately. I accept the idea. But ultimately that’s no different. You'd be able to do that though.
What you can't do is lump that £500m in as debt which is what owners do to avoid any chance of a hostile takeover after ploughing money in. The points of the rules is to stop clubs from being over leveraged to the point where if an owner pulls out they are essentially bust. You can gift whatever you like.
If we had become a Saudi puppet like Newcastle I’d stop supporting the club.
It applies in business law aswell
How about American? English? If we had become a Saudi puppet like Newcastle I’d stop supporting the club.
It’s too late to change things now, unless we see a 1980s-style crash in interest in the game- the money would dry up in a hurry then, but at the risk of trotting out cliches, I hate the whole oligarch/ Saudi benefactor model, it’s changed the game not for the better.
The football competition is a corporation, it is bound by business law.But this isn’t the law of the land, it’s the rules of a football competition. It depends on what those rules say.
It may be, of course, that those rules are silent on the issue. In that case the tribunal might decide to be guided, in the absence of anything else, by the law as it applies in other spheres but they would not be bound to do so.
I repeat my earlier comment that, if the original charge was found to be a nullity, then it is as if it never happened so it wouldn’t count as a first charge.
I suspect I’d still lose a lot of interest. The model you’re advocating is what makes it so much harder for clubs like ours. How about American? English?
A crash could happen when all the world’s best players and teams are in the Saudi League. That’s where the tv money will go, so the league will be even richer.
I have heard that some are mooting that Saudi teams should be allowed to enter the Champions League.
It’s a slippery slope.
I don’t doubt it makes it harder. I’d also argue it deters others from also buying a club like ours.I suspect I’d still lose a lot of interest. The model you’re advocating is what makes it so much harder for clubs like ours.
So really allowing these billionaires unencumbered access, we’ve ended up with a glass ceiling anyway.I don’t doubt it makes it harder. I’d also argue it deters others from also buying a club like ours.
what’s the point if your path to success is hamstrung
Who gives a shit? You can tell it's international break on here
Me too actually. Theres something bigger at play with all this than just our consistently ethically challenged M69 neighbours.

Then again I’m also one of the ones who’d find it bittersweet if we got promotion, as I feel that The Championship is somehow truer to what going to football is/ was supposed to be about. Just me.
as for Leicester- I don’t know why anyone is surprised, they have built a club off the back of cheating, loopholes, screwing people over, manoeuvring for unfair advantages. That’s always been their way, it’s in their DNA to cheat and it’ll never change, just move on and let them get on with it.
On the contrary, you’ll find loads of criticism about Chelsea, Man City, Newcastle, Wolves etc on here.A lot of the outrage on here (and i'm not saying it isn't partially justified), is simply because its Leicester.
Nobody would give a toss if it was anyone else..... there's not been much gnashing of teeth about Forest who (i assume) recieved a points deduction as they were found guilty, yet still stayed up..... proof that cheating can pay off.... that is the biggest disgrace of last season for me.
So “Man City should feel the full force of the law” but “fair play to Leicester for finding a loophole”.
talkSPORT really are jokers.

Certainly on the same level as far as I’m concerned, they’re all arseholes. Though you do have someone on this thread praising Birmingham for the ‘ambition’ in spending £15 million in L1 on a reserve player from Fulham. But not with the same level of vitriol as Leicester..... who have got away on a technicality.....
Forest have outright taken the punishment and got away with cheating, proving that it was justified.... that is a terrible situation for the game to be in.
True to football?
Most clubs are paying more on wages than turnover, are manipulating accountancy rules to escape FFP rules and in a normal competitive world would be bankrupt

We at least need transfer and wage caps in the EFL to at least try to challenge this nonsense.
As someone who lives in Leicestershire, I absolutely love the name Loophole FC and will be using it at every given moment.
Forest were penalised because of timing not cheating, in fact the very opposite to Incester. If they'd sold Brennan Johnson two weeks earlier they'd have met the rules but because they wanted a fair price for their asset they were punished. Really harsh as Spurs knew that and why they tried to get him on the cheap initially. But not with the same level of vitriol as Leicester..... who have got away on a technicality.....

They should be deducted points just for those clappers. Horrendous fanbase, disgusting club.I genuinely wonder how many of our fans would be comfortable had it have been us. Personally I’d feel a bit dirty inwardly & know it was wrong, but outwardly defend the club from all the inevitable dogs abuse we’d get. Maybe that’s what a lot of Leicester fans are actually like, who knows- it’s very hard to imagine they all genuinely see nothing wrong with their actions over the years.

I’m sure we’d all be gutted watching us beat Sevilla and watching Liam Kitching lifting the Premier league title.I genuinely wonder how many of our fans would be comfortable had it have been us. Does anyone foresee Leicester actually avoiding relegation this upcoming season anyhow? Regardless of this appeal?
