AA membership, had my regular monthly go out on 28th of month, double what it was, that's my fault I guess, but on the next day almost £100 taken, apparently one monthly taken for car, other apparently personal, lengthy phone call, cut off at the end except it wasn't, wait for daughter to return from holiday to sort it I expect, certainly have no recollection of taking the personal cover,oh well!!

Wouldn't mind but you're not even an alcoholic

Most dual carriageways?
Just confuse you more if the dual carriageway has not got a central reservation the speed is 60mph.
Did you see the other day think on the M6 one of these food delivery kids caught on a bike? Mind you the speed some of the soupped up 1's go at would get along there quicker than most cars.

The claim is that studies show it leads to a decrease in crime, haven't read any of the information that apparently supports that though.

Anecdotally, in my area since they've been switched off overnight there's been a surge in car theft and burglary.

Didn’t see any notifications for these replies!

Yes, both our cars have been tried several times.

60mph with no barrier, 70mph with a physical barrier.

Vans are 60mph with a physical barrier.
Pretty sure I saw someone trying my door today as I returned from the barbers, the house that was,at around 11-30 in broad daylight, right skinny lanky bird, just another day in Caludon rd!

People try anything. We keep our dirty trainers/wellies out the front, tucked behind our bins. And people of all ages will attempt the steal. It’s rife. I’ve been transporting topsoil from the car to the house and people have tried swiping that too.

The sacks were sat on the wheelie bin about 1 foot from the front door while I was carrying it all through to the back garden, it’s like a 5 second straight line walk from back to front. Got back to the front to pick up the next lot and caught two little kids trying to lift it!

Why is that selfish? If it wasn’t safe to over take thags not their fault.
It was safe they had reduced the traffic to 5 mph up hill and they could have done this in single file - on country roads there isn’t the room sometimes to go fully on the other side

It sounds like they've done the correct thing tbf

Single file makes the overtaking manoeuvre take longer and is more dangerous. If you could overtake just over take if you couldn’t it’s no different to a tractor or any other slower moving vehicle. You need to give more than 1.5m anyway

Sorry but no they were being selfish - it annoyed me no end 😉 tractor has a place in the countryside you can also hear and see them - riding side by side in backroads is very dangerous

They are as entitled to use the road as you are, you do not have any god given right to it
True but there is respect for other road users just like driving in the middle lane on the motorway - sadly in our area there are many who come every day in groups and make travelling around more dangerous than it needs to be

Its by far the safest way because it means drivers don’t try silly things like overtaking without space ;)

I agree they should have their own paths, but until they do I’ve got no issues with cyclists staying safe as recommended. People seem to think country roads are the Wild West and drive like they’re Colin McRae.

Selfish cyclists ! However this did make me smile - expecting one shortly having shouted at three selfish bastardsView attachment 38276 who decided they would finish an
Uphill stretch side by side with a trail of traffics behind them
I love that you made them type out verbatim what you (or the driver) shouted at them!!

And i think you should "bear this in mind ...", not bare, bunch of illiterates!

Tbf this was someone else’s letter and my shouting in my full face helmet was for my benefit 😁

I think @Mcbean was on his motorbike so not sure he has to give as much as 1.5m 🤔 Also we are supposed to give cyclists a 1.5m gap when overtaking in a car but what are we supposed to do when we are driving and a whole load of cyclists are coming the other way and filling up the opposite lane to the white lines, are we supposed to pull as far to the left or stop?

You’re supposedly give 2m to other cars so same question back at you. Overtaking is different from when someone can see you coming and the lanes are marked I guess.

Got one of these signals on the back and an alarm on the left to warn of a left turn.

IMG_1874.jpeg IMG_1875.jpeg

A worrying amount of cyclists will ignore and try to creep in on my left. Guess who gets sent down if the worst happens? We can’t see everything!! If I’m stopped and going ahead at the next junction after overtaking, damn right I’m hugging that curb - to protect them and myself. Deliveroo are fuckers especially. Will suddenly accelerate without pedalling.

Put all the safety bells and whistles on it, it’ll never be enough.

We live in rural Scotland where some roads aren't wide enough to give 1.5m to overtake other cars, are we technically not supposed to overtake anything like old grannies doing 30 in a 50 or tractors?

Never really been a drinker of spirits but recently had a gin and tonic. Noticed that the greedy buggers have reduced the size of the mixer bottle so that you only have enough for the one drink. Used to be a bigger bottle which would last for two.
