Quite interesting really. Don't see why your getting a bit of stick from posting this. We're bottom of that by a long way. Yes it seems like the tide is turning but it's still frustrating. If we could be mid table in that table, we would be firmly in the play offs.
Could very easily been added to on Saturday though! This is a problem that plagued us last season and at the start of this one. Credit Robins, he's not only created a mentality where we've stopped conceding, but one where we are dishing it out. How nice is it seeing us score last minute winners?!
I found this interesting even if you are getting some stick for it.
Whilst I agree it we have turned the corner and dont seem to be that team anymore - its interesting to see how much this could cost us. from those 10 games where we either drew or lost from winning positions, five of those happened in the eight games before Robins took over. Three more happened in his first six league games in charge, when he was just getting a feel for the team and squad. I dont think we have lost a game we have gone ahead in since Brentford on the 23rd Otober. for us to have gone three months without losing a game we have taken the lead in is big.
So what does this tell us? I think if Robins had been in charge since the start of the season we could realistically be looking at an additional 10 odd points. It also tells us I am a massive geek for stats, but lets concentrate on the first part.
Thing is there are all sorts of stats out there that you can use to compare where we were, where we are and where we could have been. They are interesting in a way because they do show both the amount of progress that have been made and just how bad we were at one point. I think we need to remember that the run under Shaw put us at a serious disadvantage this season. If anything prevents us from going into the play-offs this season, that would be one of the main factors. I think the OP is right. Whilst we may have moved on, that table reveals one of the key reasons we're not up there challenging right at the top. But it's a real credit to Robins that we're in any contention of a play-off place despite that table shown. That, to me, is a frustration, because it means we may end the season asking "what could have happened?".
Having said that, the only statistic that really matters to me, personally, is the one that says how many points we have amassed after the last game of the season. If we get the points we need to reach the play-offs, and go on to win the play-offs, it, of course, all becomes irrelevant. If we come up short, we at least know the areas we can pinpoint and say "that cost us horribly this season".
You are missing the point. How many times have Carlisle lost points from winning positions again? Seems they were never hardly in winning positions in the first place. That shows these sort of stats are flawed.
Great that we have been in so many winning positions really. Today I doubt we would be losing them anymore.
