Are you stuck in the 80's? It's 2024, 2 million basically gets you nothing these days, especially not a tried and tested Championship level player in their mid-20's.
We’d have been better off with a loanee and just paying some wages.

Its very funny that people keep trying this when we’ve still got <£1m signings in the team who are some of our best players and the entire squad is paid for with the proceeds of another.

Yeah I've noticed that too. We paid £2.5m for BTA but Sheffield United got Tyreece Campbell on a free. Keifer Moore cost £1.6m.

I've just gone through transfermarkt and only 47 (12%) of the 378 transfers in to championship clubs cost more than €2m (£1.66m).

We've basically paid £2.5m for a 4th choice striker when we only play 1 up front.

But there's a difference between excellent recruitment and development to end up with a top player at this level (hasn't happened recently), and purchasing a player who is already proven at this level.

Dasilva should be in Panto this time of year, not anywhere near a football pitch.

Same for Collins where shouting "it's behind you" is actually funny.

I personally think what @shmmeee said holds true. He’s ‘technically’ a good footballer.

He is however not a good athlete, makes weird decisions / mistakes, poor in an 1v1 and is generally a shit defender. So in that sense he is crap at football at the moment.

I can see positives in him, but also his negatives haven’t changed the whole time he’s been here. There is room for nuance in football imo.

I think he’d be very good in a team that pushes their fullbacks high or plays wingbacks. I don’t think he’s helped by his CB or his height. But mainly I just don’t think he’s ever deserved the shit he gets and like sheaf a couple of years ago is at the point where people blame him for every goal he’s on the pitch for.

He's not a defender full stop.
Might make it as a left winger in league 1, or as a AM but let's be honest we've not seen much of him as a goal threat in the oppositions box. (A real threat in his own box though)

Imo he's one who should be moved on ASAP, along with Collins, Wilson, Allen and Tavares. That's 4 squad players we can utilise to strengthen the defence and central midfield.

I'd also suggest that Raphael and Kitching could be moved on if there not going to be given a chance.

I think on the left of a back five for a possession based team with three good CBs, he could maybe be okay, but still always seems to have a mistake in him.

Also other than being able to keep the ball well, as an attacking outlet he offers less than other wide players.

I don’t think a lot of players deserve the shit they get tbh, but can see why people have found him an underwhelming signing. I don’t understand how some people cannot see that he is good at some things.

I don't think he's a fullback or a wingback, he's also not a winger. He's just a tidy footballer who is neither great at defending or attacking. He'd have probably been better as a central midfielder, maybe in the Jamie Allen mould.

If he could tackle, or if he had the engine of Allen.

I think your assessment is fair though.

If he could apply basic ball control his game would improve no end!

That team could have Jobello on the other side. Another player that looked technically good but offered nothing. Da Silva isn't any good when he is forward. Just slows everything down and goes backwards. If he cuts inside he stumps himself because he has nothing off his right foot. Also he can only play the ball the way he is facing. He can't turn, he can't receive the ball and turn at the same time. He isn't technically good at all.

You thought Jobello looked technically good? 😂

Said it already but BTA was a pointless signing. At the time I didn’t think we needed another striker but now I’ve seen a bit of him, although seems to be a charming character, he’s not great is he.

Would genuinely offer him out on loan. Doesn’t seem to fit what the club wants and in hindsight seems a panic buy (for what panic I have no idea).

Dabo played better than Dasilva, he left us and basically his career at this level was finished.
This says it all about Dasilva, one of the worst fullbacks I've seen at this football club.

Still think Thomas Asante can come good. Haven't really seen enough of him to have a proper assessment yet, similar with Dovin.

Mason-Clark had been written off until 2-3 games ago

We haven't seen much because he's 3rd or 4th choice in every position he can play lol

Dasilva’s basic issue is he is utterly clueless at defending and he is a defender. He’s trading on the skill that lots of players do these days which is the static five yard pass. It’s the most basic skill which somehow nowadays has acquired currency.
