I've said a lot this season that we've missed O'Hares energy and positivity on the pitch and the only player I've seen who can replicate it is BTA.
He hasn't got the best skillset , pace or finishing skills but in every game I've watched him he runs his arse off every minute he's on the pitch .
He was the catalyst tonight

Fair play on him for forcing his way to this level after the grave robbers released him.

Great energy up front and the coaches need to show that to Simms to show him what he needs to do.

I think Simms is a good CF in a team that is creating chances, but he seems quite quiet and introverted and so doesn't have the mean, aggressive streak needed when things aren't going the team's way. If he had the mindset of any of BTA, Bassette or Vik he would be an absolute monster.

One for Dr Roberts to sink her teeth into I think,

Simms is still the better of the two when it comes to finishing and goals but a modern day number 9 has to work hard off the ball and be ready to take chances when they come along
I’d be intrigued to see how they got on up top together I actually think they’d supplement eachother pretty well but it’s a non starter as I don’t see us playing a two up top

I've suggested playing BTA off Simms/Bassette a few times . Not as a CAM or in the Rudoni role but as he did tonight , just use his energy and press defenders

Sorry Simms, I am a massive fan and I think he could be a good PL striker but we don't change this starting XI now (ok Saka). We need consistency. Wright, left. Assante, centre and maybe Bassette right?

The song is growing as well, it may sound silly but I think things like that make a massive difference.

BTA was excellent tonight and looks twice the player as a striker rather than on the RW. The competition between him and Simms will be fierce.

Personally, I think Simms wins that battle in the long haul and they offer v different attributes to one another.

I like all our forwards and our options. That's the area I'd keep rotating keep them fresh and hungry. Great bench options whoever is chosen and then against tired legs if we get the first part right it could be ope season when we switch it.

The midfield three of Eccles and Sheaf behind Rudi looks good if all can remain fit, we then can rotate any of Wright, Simms, Bassette, EMC, BTA and all look good. That's without Tats, Raphael or even Tavares too. Embarrassment of riches.

He’s much more of a Robins sort of striker than Simms is. All the successful strikers in Robins time have been good off the ball as well as on it. McNulty, Godden, Vik

That's what he does, put him in that position he will run all day, create and will score goals. Id like to see him and Simms as a front 2 at some point this season. Different players but both effective if we play on the front foot as a team.

It’s not just the much missed energy and press he gives, he is always looking to shoot. And despite the suggestions that he isn’t the best finisher they invariably end up on target. In a team that creates plenty of chances he should comfortably score 10+.

Good player, can't believe people moaned about us signing him.
Problem is, if you can call it a problem, we have 3 players who cost good money, who are all best playing through the middle. Someone is going to end up not playing much.

Looks like that will be Simms on this season’s evidence, until he finds a way to press from the front like his two counterparts.

Robins called it the best centre forward performance at the club in some time.
I thought he was superb... but... will those words be the kick up the arse Simms needs... or... does he see it as the nasty manager saying nasty things in public like his old assistant did at Ryton???

This is what I find so funny about Simms. There's an art to it, like anything, but pressing is a pretty rudimentary part of the game and isn't all that difficult to do.

With the way the game has evolved, especially in terms of most teams playing out from the back, it just has to be a part of a striker's repertoire in today's game. Unless you are a proficient goalscorer you just can't get away with choosing not doing it.
