City will know who they face in their new division when the fixtures are released on Monday morning.

And manager Andy Thorn is determined to start as the club mean to go on, saying: “Daggers away, I'm really looking forward to it. It will be good to kick the season off and hopefully we can start with a win which will set us up nicely for our first league game.“

The trip to Victoria Road will be familiar turf for London-born Thorn, who added: “I'm more South London in terms of where I was brought up but it will be nice to go back down there. It's a good draw for us and with the fixtures coming out next week I can't wait to get back in to Ryton with get back in to Ryton with the lads and start our pre-season.

“As I said last year, you want to go as far as you can in every competition and the more games you play the more successful you are in them.

“I've played at Victoria Road before for Wimbledon reserves and it's a tough place to go. It was a tight old ground, although it has probably changed since then.

“John Still is the manager and he's been in the game for years and I'll look forward to seeing him.

“These are good games and it's a great chance to progress and it will be great to give our fans something to cheer about.“

As for next week's league fixtures, he said: “It would be nice to start the league campaign at the Ricoh but I don't mind really. We'll have to wait and see what the fixtures throw up for us but a home fixture is always nice.“ FleetwOOd goalkeeping coach Steve McIlhargey believes a first-round tie with Nottingham Forest in the Capital One Cup is just reward for the club's years of toil in non-league football.

But will Thorn play his first choice eleven or with his eyes firmly on promotion use the rotation system so cleverly used in the past....Morecambe springs to mind.

The presenter who's name I can't remember was talking to some financial expert about how long it would take the football league to accept and audit the accounts
