Andy Thorn has lost Westwood (best keeper in the division at the time) Turner (one of the best defenders in the division) Gunnarson (midfield engine room) Juke and Marlon two of the best strikers in the division.
He has had to replace these with kids and a couple of very recent loan deals.
Any other manager and Cov would have gone by now. We are still in with a shout and he is playing attractive bloody good football.
Any manager experiencing loses of those kind all in one season should expect to be relegated and anything else would be a bonus.
Please review previous articles in which Reid, Boothroyd and Coleman all state that the club sold their best players and expected them to still achieve with either none or substandard replacements. Are all of these managers lying or clueless, I beg to differ they all say the same thing, the ownershipp is poor?

Bottom line is we all want CCFC to succeed (that is the club of which individuals form part and are transitory) but we all have healthy valid opinions as to how or did we lose freedom of expression ?

what I mean......

I mean the majority of fans are behind Thorn and the club. Others constantly only contribute negative comments. These unmerited negative comments hurt the moral of the manager and players. They can only lead the negative outcomes i.e. the team playing worse, Thorn getting the sack or Thorn quitting. Hence the negaitive people ruin it for the majority who back Thorn and think he is doing a good job.

ref the other comment you are right the last minute pen does not go in and suddenly Thorn is a bad manager knife edge situations like that have gone against us 13 times this season so it about time they went our way.

Old Skyblue, you are right everyone is entitled to their opinion. I dont have to agree with their opinion and have the right to oint out the dangers of their opinion. May I ask in your opinion what are the positives in making negative comments about Thorne. Secondly who exactly would come in if he quit or was sacked? I see the potential negatives of the critisism as I have stated above just interested in what good it does.

dongonzalos, i agree totally the majority are behind the club, i'd even say 100% of people are behind the club.
As for negative comments hurting the team and manager, we have virtually been in the bottom three all season so negative comments are inevitable.Like OSB says people have a right to have an opinion and if it disagrees with yours, then hopefully you would respect it.
Thorn himself regularly says that this team should be higher in the table, so would you say he has no blame for that, however small. Some players like Bell and Baker are clearly not good enough and Bell in particular shows little or No commitment, so people should give negative comments if they feel like it.

Most on here are clever enough to see its all not sunny and roses concerning the team,manager and the table and like me if i want to complain i will, and if you think what is said on here effects the team and manager, i would say if it did, i would say to them to get a backbone, and get on with your highly paid job.

If you want a web-site with only good news and evrything is rosey in the garden concerning Cov, this is not the one for you. If i want to moan i will ,and if anyone questions my desire and love of the club because of it, so be it, but i will have no respect whatsoever for that person.

It isnt about whether it is negative or positive wrong or right it is just opinion and if the future of our club is so seriously damaged because a group of highly paid players managers or staff are devastated by a few electronic dots on a screen then we truly are in a mess.

I agree in a perfect world everything would be all positive and nice but the real world is not like that. Negative comments can teach aswell as positive ones, they may highlight things not previously seen - it is all in how it is expressed. People learn more by making mistakes than by constantly making positive comments but not if they are not pointed out. Personally I have made positive and negative comments about AT - he is human and makes mistakes but not all the time

If he left of course we would find someone else - you and I have no idea if someone else might be more or less successful - but he would be replaced. who that would be would depend on when he left - but in time he will go like any other manager

Not really picking on your post but to be honest I am heartily sick of reading about AT is crap or AT is brilliant and folk being intolerant of simple opinions that count for naff all in reality. It seems that you have to be either for him or against whereas the reality is that most fans support the team and only support AT because he currently holds the position of manager - in time he will be gone and the team will still be here. I support the team but have an opinion on what goes on and the individuals involved some of which is positive some is negative.

Too many here take themselves too seriously and repeatedly express their opinion as fact when it is clearly no more than opinion. So this is just my opinion

That's the crucial one we see too often on here. I'm not saying people should end each post with "in my opinion" but at least when saying something keep to the facts and not form opinion based on complete fabrication, rumour, another site or twitter musings.

How are we very lucky to have Thorn may I ask? You have said yourself that any manager experiencing the losses we have should expect to be relegated. Well, we have been in the bottom three since October and more or less bottom and 7 points adrift since Christmas.

Aren't we just where you think we would be? If so then Thorn hasn't done any better than any other manager as we should get relegated whoever is in charge. Thorn has therefore only done as expected. Probably worse though when you think about it, because we have been 7 or 8 points adrift since Christmas.

I think im mostly positive ,especially about all the young lads we have unearthed this season. I also moan a bit about Andy Thorn as he is the manager but my biggest moan is for SISU as they deserve evrything they get. I am trying to convince myself that i don't moan all the time, but i think i'm right.
I love that our team is full of youth and we do seem to have a brighter future if we can keep them.This for me this has been by far the biggest plus this season.

I don't really understand the point you are making. Most negative references to Thorn are restricted to forums such as this. I do not really ever hear any negatives of him at the ground - in fact I cannot remember since Phil Neal public cries at a game for a manager to go.
Even if there were so what?? He won't quit because of it and if he did he was not up to be a manager anyway. All managers even the "greats" get stick it goes with the territory.

I don't agree Otis, if we were where we should be after what SISU have done it would be relegated already not in with a shout of staying up. I have to wonder if the people who complain about Thorn actually attend the matches. Rev were you at the match last night? What did you think of Bakers contribution. Maybe Bell was better than the other options Thorne had available to him at the time as oppose to having favourites. It is not easy to drop a player like Bell when you are not allowed to sign replacements. I think you will find he will not feature as much no that norwood has been signed. If you are going to complain at least suggest some solutions. Can you give me examples of when Thorne played only his favourites and who should have been playing instead.
Also again can anyone tell what positive things come out of posting negatively on sites?

I go to every home game. I still dont see your point. Leeds fans were negative last night, I've in the past heard man u fans saying fergie is past it. It's not negative it's called opinion on football a highly immotive industry.

As an aside my opinion of baker was that once again he priced that he should never have been offered a contract. Useless. There another negative hope Carl doesnt read it he may get upset. As if he would care.

Bell wasn't dropped last night. He was injured.

You honestly think if we had a different manager we would have been relegated already? Based upon what?

Who are the people who aren't getting behind the club? I haven't seen any. Questioning Thorn as manager IS NOT the same as willing him to fail in any way, shape or form.

It's frustrating how often people here seem to only see things in black or white.

also I did not say Bell was dropped last night I said now that Norwood is here I think you will see a little less of Bell. SO I take it you were there last night when we played Leeds off the park and should have won by four. Look at that Leeds side, look at the Coventry side. We played them off the park. That is why I think we are lucky to have Thorn. We have also played lots of other teams off the park and lost in very unfortunate circumstances. Do you give Thorn any credit for these performances after lossing 5 top classes players that previous managers could not suceed with when they had them in their team. Baker has an abundance of skill and he is a confidence player so yes he does need positive support and not negative vibes.

Though we did outplay Leeds, it has to be said they were very, very poor and have admitted so themselves. Luckily we caught them on a good night for us.

whilst I agree with most of your opinions that you post I must question your statement as to Baker clearly not being good enough to play for us. Very few players outside of the premiership are "good enough" for cov in my opinion but our current financial status dictates an unfortunate alternative that we are able to field. Having seen all the games he,s played for us this year I actually think he gets a rough ride from some of our fans.Last night he was,nt good to start with TBH but he can give us a bit of flair that is missing from the side. IMO Deegan who gets far more support from fans is nowhere near the player that Baker could be for us given a run in the team.

Who should be playing the attacking right wing role, when we drop Baker I cant seem to find a reply to that anywhere........ It is very easy to moan but I think it is important to back it up with counter solutions. Thorn can only make do with what he has got. He is only allowed to go and get loan players once our best players are sold. in the last couple of years Fox, Westwood, Dan, Turner, Gunnarson, Juke, Marlon out. Thorn has been allowed to spend £500k the rest is youngsters and loanees. I honestly believe if Thorn was in charge of that Leeds team they would be in the top two. Unfortunately the only way we will ever find out the truth is if he goes.
