"Portsmouth probably shaded the first half but I think in the second half, we were much more composed on the ball and played it around really well."

"We scored two really good goals and it is a big victory for us as we have waited a long time to get in amongst the other sides."

"To be one point away now is a big achievement and I hope we can kick on from here. The first goal was worked really well and it was a great finish."

"It is a difficult technique to score goals like that but I think Gary McSheffrey's done really well as we have asked him to gamble a lot more at the break."

"He has done just that and it was good to see us switch the ball the way we did. The second goal from Oliver Norwood was also great and he is prolific now."

"I think this result will put a lot of pressure on the teams around us as we have been playing really well of late and I couldn't be happier with the style of football we have shown."

"We need to use the Ricoh as a fortress and keep pushing forward. If we can use this result and build up the momentum then we will give ourselves a great chance."

"We got a good result against Cardiff so if we can pick up our away form a bit and keep on this unbeaten run then it will benefit us."

"We have only lost one in about eight games here since Christmas so we can make it interesting. It is coming at a good time as well."

"It is important we maintain that and the support we are getting here is unbelievable and it just drives us on."

"I thought they shaded the first half but we were feeling the effects of a trip to Cardiff on Wednesday night. There was no zip about us so I was pleased to get in at half-time."

"We changed a couple of things and we spoke about a few things and just filled them with energy."

"We moved the ball really well and scored two really good goals that had a bit of quality about them. We've got a bit of momentum going now and we have to make sure we maintain that and see what happens."

"It was always going to be a tough game because it's been a tough week with Watford away and Cardiff away, and those two points might be vital to us now."

"We followed that up with a win today and it's a good little run for us with seven games to go."

In light of the shit that some have spouted his stickability has been just that - fantastic.

That's too different things though isn't it. Fantastic for his stickability / fantastic manager.

He's taken deserved criticism for results earlier in the season so to see him make the right choices throughout half time and the second half was great to see. Him and the team deserves the plaudits today.

Agreed.

Don't think anyone can argue with that.

He and the team have learned a lot this season, which is one of the biggest reasons we've improved so much since christmas.

IMHO you cannot have (particularly in a team game) one without the other. Stickability begets the quality thru experience - its been ever thus.

I think just like the players that are making their mistakes at Championship rather than youth level, Thorn too has made his mistakes at a much higher level than he should've been doing. Thankfully he's learning from them and I'm full of admiration for the way he's handling the crap hand he's been dealt. A few months ago I admit I wanted him out but now I'm glad he's here.

Good post Delboy.

He certainly seems to now not be making the big mistakes he was making eariler on. Been a learning curve for him.

We are still waiting to see if it is a gamble that is going to pay off. I'm sure we all hope it does. No-one wants to see him fail.

Of course no one wants to see him fail and this seems a fair summary.

It is clear though that the squad is good enough to stay in the division. The way some people were talking before Christmas you would think that they were the worst set of players in the country.

They clearly are not they were just under achieving then.

I seem to recall outrage at the decision to replace juke with 2 youngsters and our revival stated before they arrived.

Your last comment is why you lack so much credibility with so many on here. Pathetic.

When he's struggling to blood young players it's Thorn's fault. When he gets them playing, they were under performing previously and thus, by definition, it's Thorn's fault

Have to give credit to thorn in the last few games, he must have been practising tactics on footy manager as i cant fault him!

I have been quick to be negative but pat on the back for the recent games!

Very decent of you to comment so, Nick. Sure, criticise and argue vehemently when you see it's right to do so; but to never be prepared to see any good in a man is simply an embarrassment

If I had credibility from you I'd be worried. Clearly your main aim on here is to be popular and you get very touchy when your cosy little bubble is burst.

Me? I say what I think and seriously couldn't care less what others views of what I say are.

My aim isn't to be popular whatsoever. It's a football forum. What differences does it make if I'm loved or loathed.

However, as I go through life I like to pride myself on being equal of hand, considered, pragmatic and to try and evidence a touch of empathy. You're so skewed as to make your incessant vitriol on here an embarrassment

I love to be loved. I live to be loved. The lights, the music, the splash of the greasepaint, the wild applause from the eager audience, my encore, my bows ... my flowers, my plaudits.

The world's a stage and I am merely a player living for the thrill of it all.

That's, by means of a come-back, simply pathetic. Other people can read your immaturity, you know.

The sadder element being its not even the worst post you've made this evening

Practise the sensation. You'll be readied for Thorn's ten-year contract announcement...

Gosh some humor that's more like it.

I have actually said if we stay up he should be offered a new contract as that is job done.

Any criticism Thorn and the team came in before Christmas was 100% justified, no doubt since Christmas we have improved 10 fold and credit for the turnaround has to go to Thorn and the players. We are making a right good go of it now but we wouldn't be in this position if the players and management team had turned up before Christmas.
