Thorn's chances slipping away? (1 Viewer)

You want the job then you get a point at least with seconds remaining on the clock. Now as I said previously the last 4 games starting with today at the Boro' will be Thorns opportunity.
Scunny (who lost at home today and fighting for their lives so makes our draw look all the more poorer) drew 1-1 at home and now Boro' away we lose. 1 point in 2 from lower placed opposition.

I fear what will appear on paper is what ultimately what will decide Thorns destiny.

Still have Reading and Norwich to go.....both of whom are higer placed teams than those we have so far met under Thorns stewardship.

Just felt that he must of seen the cracks defensively last few games yet persisted with a shaky back line when options were available and again he paid the price for that.

To be honest, today we were without our two best players (Hussey and King), and with Wood, Deegan, Macca all injured, he's still done well with an injury ravaged squad. There are few managers that would be able to do what he's done.

But I do agree with you to some extent.

Deegan was on the bench today.

As for being judged...this is his 'trial' period.

The world is a harsh place yes. But we have SISU who want results they probably could not care less about pretty football.

As for players all wanting Thorn I'm not surprised but having them all as 'mates' is not ideal long haul......

I was there and we deserved at least a point today, still think Thorn should get the job, you cannot legislate for poor defending. What does concern me it the conceding goals in the last minutesl, PNE, Watford, and today. We have enough chances to even nicked it

we have a history of leaking very late goals but you need to play to the whistle so no excuses in my book. Sadly the price you pay for playing attacking football, you need to make it count at the front.

He's got us out of the relegation scrap. That's all we needed. We've been competitive since he took charge and any games left including todays don't matter in the long run.

Give him the summer to shape a team of his own and then see where we are at Christmas. Any other decision would be rash and short sighted, unless a truly proven manager is waiting in the wings.

AT is the right man for the job in my eyes.
The defence at times does look open but we look like getting goals and it's good to watch.

The last two results have not been ideal but you could argue that the players have nothing to play for however if they all want Thorn to get the permanent job surely they would give everything to get a win. What was disturbing about the Scunthorpe game was how we just sat back in the second half and didn't try to win.

I still think Andy is the right man for the job and would like to see his performance when the results actually mean something. Leaking late goals is frustrating for a supporter in any game even if the result is not important and this is something that AT should have addressed by now.

i think if we dont someone else will, he has had a taste of management and would not want to go back so could be a loss on both ends as we could lose a decent scout also!

I think we should start with him next year and see how he copes under pressure. I hope he does well, sick of "big" names

never done well with a big name manager, only good at making managers into big names! And that all started with Mr Hill and his Sky Blue Revaluation 50 years ago! Hopefully Thorn will follow the trend if given the chance!

AT said on the Radio he is meeting with Chairman Ken today so hopefully we will get news soon that he has been given the job.

I wouldn't say we sat back against Scunthorpe-I think it was more of a case that we were building from the back, but we're still very much learning how to do that. The problem with Midboro was we kept attacking too much, when maybe we should have settled for a point. But from what Thorn said, I get the feeling he may have approached it differently if there was anything riding on the result. The other thing was the goal came from a lapse in concentration from a substitute defender-I always worry that a sub at the back is dangerous in terms of them being off the pace of the game, and so it proved yesterday.

I don't buy any notion that his trial spell started yesterday-that's just silly. It started against Burnley. Equally, I really think our best 2 CB's for this style started yesterday-Wood doesn't have the touch or composure to play this short game. There's nothing naive about leaving him out. Go through our goals conceded this year if you think he's better there than Cranie or Keogh! Cameron has been taken out at the right time, and he'll come back a better, fresher player next season.

I think the last few games have simply illustrated what we knew already-we have a threadbare squad with no depth. We simply can't replace King and McSheffrey (and to an extent Hussey) without feeling the loss. It'd be the same if Sammy or Bell were out.
