I'd love to see some of us try and do the job of a local councillor. I have the pleasure of knowing some of the most selfless people I know give their spare time for the good of their community

Nobody on here is anti CCFC they are anti sisu or Anti ACL/CCC or both....

People are very quick to write this off but why not? Could at least then apply pressure from the inside to work with sisu in bringing the club back to Coventry.

People on here are really starting to piss me off with their anti ccfc stances. Why don't you fuck off and support someone else or start your own club in the Coventry area. It's obviously what you want. You can then claim victory on behalf of Ann Lucas.

Obviously a sisu plant or a troll.

Trouble is Sisu don't want to work with the council full stop. and as all parties agreed with the stance taken won't matter who's in power the stance of the council won't change.
So we get one member elected what can they do how much say do they have 1 vote out of how many?

Has anybody counted the number of empty shops in the centre of Coventry.
How many people travel out of town to do their shopping.
How many times has the centre been remodeled to try an encourage more footfall
in the City.

If the council got the above correct for a change, CCFC not playing at the Ricoh
would not be a problem to the City in financial terms.

Sisu should know by now that to build a stadium outside of the City boundaries
will NOT bring back the fan base. They also know that without the fan base they
will never have a salable business, especially if it's playing in a lego land stadium.

If they want to come home they must either make an offer to purchase the Ricoh
outright including ACL, or alternatively take up a rental offer.

One thing is for sure if they dont get of their high horse and start talking--nothing will happen.

There are 18 wards in Coventry each with 3 councilors. 1/3rd of these 54 seats are up on May 22nd. The current council is 43 Labour - 11 Tory. It is not clear cut that all 43 of the existing Labour candidates are "against" negotiation and similarly it doesn't stand to reason that 11 Tories are for it either. Would require some research from some people in the know on how this stuff works. Maybe something for the trust to work on?

I'd vote for whoever takes those shady bus lane cameras down that are making them a mint.

If my maths is correct then there will still be a Labour majority after this election whatever happens.

54-18 = 36,
11 + 18 = 29.

One sticking point.

Say you all get elected, in all wards. You then work to give the Ricoh to Sisu. Would that not be seen as maladministration? or even illegal state aid?

You have to show that you are acting in the best interests of the council, the city, and the whole population of the city (including non football supporters), for any actions you take to be legal.

Making a poor choice in error that negatively impacts on the city is one thing. Intentionally doing it will bring legal challenges, and potentially legal charges.

You will be limited in the actions you could take without breaking local government laws.

It is not as easy as getting elected, having a quick vote, then celebrating. Anyone that approaches it without both eyes wide open is in for a shock.

Bureaucracy has it's own rules.
