Ticket Selling Idea for the Club (1 Viewer)

Surely it wouldn't be too hard to have a kiosk with a touchscreen computer and card machine (like at cinemas and argos) where you can walk in, buy a ticket, have it printed out and pay by card and walk out. Get 2 of them in the store and job done :)

Excellent thought Nick. Book online and pick up, or pay while you are there. And of course, market and publicise appropriately.

Buy my tickets online and have no problem... but that is an excellent idea!

I wonder if any clubs in the UK do this?

Still not as simple as it will need a link to the system wouldn't it?

The club could easily block out a set of tickets on the system and take those ones into town, then any unsold ones could be released back to the system.

Not knocking your idea at all mind, that would just require a level of investment ;)

Agree .. if they have them in Cinema's can't see why it would not work for us.

iPad with 4G?

It's doable in the 21st century, let's be honest. Send some phone salesman wanna be and some glamour model wannabe into town with an iPad, get people signed up and they can pick up tickets on the day (from one of your machines ;) )

Even better: eTickets. Just get people to print at home/display a QR code on their phone like airlines do, stick a barcode on there for verification if needed.

Buy a smartphone for each turnstile (or get them to use their own) for scanning.

Good idea, there is so much more the club could do which they aren't doing.

A bunch of Cov fans on the internet can come up with several really good ideas in a few days yet all the bigwigs in suits up at the club can think of nothing better than a 2 hour queuing system and an online system which fails if more than 10 people try and use it at the same time.

Don't forget that the bigwigs in suits are busy with the plans for the new stadium!

Agreed..but even simpler How about a 'wheel barrow' in the city centre... or in Tescos.. or... the list is endless....

Its just madness... linking to system etc etc.. they ought to have "floor walkers" outside the shop...match day tickets in hand, people paying cash maybe even card. I attended today to collect tickets bought on line, Id hoped for a "collections queue" and a 'season tickets' queue, sadly common sense didnt prevail, I was met with a 2 hour wait, which I politley declined, I still have no ticket despite parting with money- I presume I will be expected to go back to collect tomorrow from the Ricoh.
It is really frustrating, not for me but for the club. I was privy to two fans today who were advised on the queue length and just turned away. We all want the club to maximise revenue streams I just fail to see how common sense doesnt establish a better way along with soem of the ideas in this thread. Its simple isnt it?

They should have somebody there just to hand out collection tickets, takes seconds. They could even put them on the counter where you buy shirts as that is usually empty.

Precisley the point I made to the gent at the door Nick....and in an email to the club soon after.... its bloody madness..... we all know the extenuating circumstances around the clubs return havent helped... but actually..on that basis they should be overloading public relations and community 'esprite de couer' feel good factor.. instead.. they alienate people by ill thought out resource and planning the basics of which seem so damn simple.
I'm not moaning for my sake- we will be there regardless... but for the club... come on CCFC...

I can understand why people would need to wait if they wanted to pick a seat and get a bit of a "personal" service but just to hand over tickets, do they need to be signed for or anything?

I love the idea about E-Tickets. In this day in age you should be able to buy a ticket on your mobile and be able to quickly scan it under a machine. Simple.

Simpler still, you buy your ticket online and then have the option of printing it off yourself at home.

They're clever enough to have thought of that ............. aren't they?

You would think this would be a very easy option.

Was just thinking, only a couple of months ago I bought tickets online to go to the Albany Theatre (The Butts Theatre) and it asked me if I wanted the option to print my own tickets off or pick them up at the box office on the day.

Now if a small venue like the Albany Theatre can do this simple thing, then surely a massive concern like Coventry City Football Club can too.

The club isn't using the scanners at the ground, I don't know why this is, but if you can print at home and then not scanning, then anyone can copy a ticket and get in for free.

These tickets for the theatre weren't scanned by the staff, just checked phyiscally.

Understand it is slightly different as you have a lot less seating there, but there is surely a way of doing it. Off the top of my head for instance,if you print your ticket off you can only go through certain nominated turnstiles. If you did that then they could just cross you off a pre-printed list. You could even be asked to produce id.

Now I know people could maybe still copy tickets, but this is just my thinking off the top of my head. Wouldn't take much more in thinking to come up with a more robust method based on the same sort of idea.

As I said earlier in the thread, the scanner is just a smartphone or a webcam, it wouldn't be hard to do.

the sooner we go back to scannable tickets/ cards the better.. then I can get a concessions ticket again instead of paying full price

Why don't thy just organise their staff properly.

Surely if you have a big queue at the tills then just move them around??

Fuck me industry has been doing this since time began.

First rule keep the customers happy.

Slightly different I know, but whenever I travel to the mainland, I book all my ferry tickets online and print them off at home. Just show them at the port when crossing. Simple!
