I like “very almost,” going to start using that!
Somebody moved next to Mildenhall stock car stadium and very almost closed it down because of noise pollution on a Saturday night, bankrupted the promoters in the process (ironically a family with the surname of Coventry) and it had to be taken over by another promoter to keep it going with strict conditions on noise. That was one resident, all the other local residents were on the side of the stadium.
You then have the opposite scenario where the residents of Brandon are blocking the development of housing to retain a speedway and stock car track.
Don’t underestimate the power of residents.

more proffesonal type of ground than Nuneaton Question 9000 though? more like 7000 but definately would need some Temporary Stands on the Left hand side of the ground as you walk in even if it was Cheap Cowshed type like Stevenage ground. Plenty of good old fashioned standing room as well. I live by Junction2 of the M6 and it would take me 15 minutes to get there. Its got a CV post code so i would go9000? Must admit I've never been there but assumed it was like a Nuneaton type ground
wouldnt be surprised if planning permission already exists! Current owners want to build and extension stand have applied a few years ago but trying to get the funds! dont know how long the applications last for though but should imagine £500k from CCFC would put in a decent infratructure to establish required security. If we dont get promoted this year then Butlin Road would satisfy the EFL for now.The Planning process for upgrading Butlin Rd could easily take up to a year if there are objections.
Err in essence yes.Although Butlin Road is a better and bigger ground than Liberty Way, access and infrastructure are not as good (still not very good at Liberty Way). However, in Nuneaton there would be less objections from residents as it is on an industrial estate and there is much more space for the erection of temporary stands. Is all the ground around owned by the rugby club? If it is, then that could cause a lot of potential difficulties as they are far from sympathetic to Nuneaton Town. The fact that Smurthwaite is the owner, on the face of it, should be a positive.
The prospect of our club playing at either non league ground, or even worse, somewhere further away fills me with gloom. Would we ever be able to return to Coventry? Would we just gradually dwindle and die with Sisu holding on to the husk of what was once our club to continue with their legal actions?
And, of course, we would survive a bit longer than if we were expelled from EFL. So at least two positives then.The only positive I can see from this proposal is that our old friend from Rugby Hackney Fox would be horrified at the City playing in his hometown.
There seems to be an assumption that if Wasps go under, SISU will walk back in to the Ricoh. Why?CCFC leaving isn’t going to help wasps one bit financially. Wasps are right in the shit financialy with no way in paying it back. Gates dropping, no European rugby next season, senior players leaving and being replaced with foreign imports that won’t settle indicate its going south fast.
My opinion is SISU will hold out until wasps go under in a couple or three years. And it is heading that way isn’t it?

Because there’s a stadium then potential up for grabs. No idea about other rugby clubs moving in, but I don't recall anyone predicting Wasps arrival in Cov, least of all SISU. Lets face it. Wasps should never have moved, the rugby authorities should have stood up to their owner and the Fisher-esque BS he was spouting. The chances of finding a second club prepared to bail the council out are slim.
So the other option, if the council still refuse to sell to the football club, is a new stadium operators. Any new stadium operator will not want and empty stadium and will more than likely be doing everything they can to get the club back.
It wouldn’t be the council agreeing a rental - they don’t own the stadium company. if wasps go broke, they would surely go into administration and any remaining assets, such as acl and the associated 250 year lease on the Ricoh, would be put up for sale.
