Time to focus on supporting the team?? (1 Viewer)

Well now Mr Hoffman has made his offer we now have an indication that he is serious about his intentions to take over the club.
As has already been discussed on previous posts the questions with regards to long term future and security of our club remain unanswered. We will only know this as the process develops.

We are now in a position where we have one interested party and so it is a choice between hoffmann and sisu. Sisu I would suspect want out, I believe that when they took over the club they generally believed they could fund us into the premiership and then sell the club on at a profit. However they have gone for one mistake to another so that there has been a complete and irretrievable breakdown between them and us the fans. However having put money into the running of the club they are not going to go away with nothing.

The whole process will no doubt take some time, negotiations until both parties can agree and then the required formalities. The transfer window will be well and truly shut (which I do wonder if this is intentional, enough other drains on resources at outset) and so we have the team we have at the moment for the foreseeable.

Sisu will need to continue to fund the club until an agreement is reached with Hoffman and I am sure that they are aware that the fans want them out, therefore are further protests beneficial at this point. Would we not be best letting both parties get one with negotiating and agreeing take over and in meantime get behind the team.

Protests during matches are disruptive and unlikely to do much at this stage anyway.

Is it not best to get on with what we do best - supporting OUR team. After a bad start to the season they could do with the twelve man effect. Just a thought.

But right ~ GH is playing board, we need to be behind the team.

Sorry mate, completely disagree. We need to ensure that the strength of feeling is maintained as it may help sway their decision to leave. As you rightly say there is only one offer on the table, we need to make it clear which side of the fence we are firmly on and that this was not a wishy-washy one off protest that will blow over. All that would do is show them that we can be easily hoodwinked by a smart bit of pr into silence.

I thought the atmosphere at the Watford game was excellent and had just the right balance between support and protest despite the small numbers and I would urge everyone to make the same stance if tehy still feel the same way as I do regarding the current board.

I totally agree with Rob here. Fans should continue their support for the team and Hoffs Bid to ensure that the pressure is kept on SISWHO.

We have one true goal here and that is success of the team. It would seem to us supporters that the only way this can be achieved is if SISWHO leave.

I agree with Rob. The balance of protest and support was just right. This needs to be maintained.

I was next to the press box and it sounded better than normal from there, but not enough people in the telegraph stand joining in. Someone did ask me what you were chanting.

The block 15 atmosphere is spreading to block 18 now.
Being allowed to stand adds to this.
The telegraph stand need to get more involved.

I was in block 16 and the atmopshere was good, just wondering, did that transfer around the ground?

I was in 18 and it was fine although in 23 last year and it was barely audible. I think the acoustics of the ground are not ideal as it rarely transfers. I'm not skilled enough to suggest how that can be changed. However, on Saturday something must have been better because the cringeworthy "Andy give us a wave" was obviously heard as he did respond and certainly that part wasn't the loudest chant of the day.

And the response when he does wave, 'let's all wave at Andy'

As cringeworthy as that is, it is a good laugh!

I agree with Rob on this one. Whilst I am sure that Dulieu cannot keep any details of the offer from SISU, especially with Onye on the board it is vital that the message gets through not only to Sepalla etc at SISU that they are not welcome but to their investors that SISU have done an appalling job trying to turn round this ailing business and should not be trusted with anyones money in the future. I was amazed by the apparent impact Brinners brilliant visit to the SISU offices had on them and we must if anything step up the campaign to get these people out of our club now that we has a seemingly viable alternative. The more anti-SISU publicity we can raise the more they will want out - the world of investment revolves around track records and reputations and if we can show what a pigs ear these jokers have made of this investment it may dissuade investors and hurt their core business. SBS&L is a small part of their overall investment portfolio but if we can make a disproportionate amount of noise, trouble and embarassment for them it not only might hasten their departure but reduce the terms of it, leaving Hoffman and co more to invest in the team. We must strike the right balance between protesting against SISU and supporting the team but against Watford I felt the balance was about right.
