Following on from the poll that @BlueSkiesForever put up, 12% of you want Robins gone now.

Those who answered out now:

1. How confident are you that King would appoint the right person?

2. Who would you give the job to?

My personal take is that Robins is responsible for a lot of what's going wrong (but not the only one) and he's not filling me with confidence that he knows how to get out of it. Don't see it ending well but still hopeful. Equally, I don't have confidence that King would make the right decision when appointing a new manager. Even if he did, is a new manager going to get any more out of the current group? He's unlikely to get the kind of cash Robins has been able to throw around. He would need to so better than MR on a smaller budget.

Stability counts for a lot in this game and whilst I am in the bedwetting about MR camp it would be criminal to get rid of him unless a) we are absolutely certain we can bring in someone better and b) he's taken us as far as he can or our championship status is at risk.

I didn’t vote out but on the recruitment angle.

On 1) I think this would be extremely difficult to get right considering how big a hole Mark would leave at the club considering he’s been probably the best (at least one of) in our history.

But likewise we’ve got 6 points out of 36. If that continues you can’t stick with it and worrying about who else could do the job would only hurt that.

On the question, think I’d keep an open mind. Would be the first time the recruitment staff, performance director and Doug would have to recruit a manager. Big Big job but would rather judge them on the results after the fact.

2) Want to preface this that at the moment Robins deserves time to tweak and work out and if needed to get rid of some of the coaches. If I was in charge I would look at young attacking managers in either the lower bit of the championship or in League one.

Names that come to mind is:

Steven Schumacher

Michael Skubala

Danny Röhl

Dave Challinor

Ian Evatt

Again that’s just the type of manager I would be looking at but want to reconfirm that I think Robins deserves time but needs to prove he can do it without Adi.

I’d just like to remind the forum that the year we won L1, many people were criticising the style of play and teetering on the ‘Robins Out’ camp.

Whenever we talk about that season now, those same people talk about how well we started that season.

It’s 6 games into the league season and whilst it’s been a disappointing start the league campaign isn’t won in September or October.

MR had the final say on pretty much everything before and picked his own team and had his own coaching staff. We’ve since ripped 95% of that responsibility and support away from him and given him a brand new coaching set up with that could fill a football team and seemingly won’t go for his transfer suggestions (See Matty James).

At the moment I don’t see how he can turn it around however that is more because of the external influence over him and not necessarily a reflection on him as if he was doing it his own way we would be much better. Bear in mind we’ve had some really shit teams playing much better than we are now - I’d suggest most of that was down to Mark, Adi and Dennis Lawrence working as the single point of success or failure.

I remember that to be fair, loved the league one days in retrospect but remember fans being upset due to the away form.

MR hasn’t changed, what’s around him has. So either you find someone able to succeed in the new environment or you change things back more to what he works better with.

The trends over the last 7 years with MR haven’t changed. It’s been a slow start every season barring the 2nd Championship season where we won the first 6 home games.

People also forget that the same questions being asked of MR were asked when Viveash came to the club to replace Robin’s long standing assistant, Steve Taylor.

Exactly, the league is a marathon, not a sprint and there’s been plenty of examples of teams starting slowly and peaking towards the end of the season.

Just look 2022/23 where us v Middlesborough was a 23rd v 24th clash in Sept/Oct and we were both in the playoff semi finals.

Surely any new manager worth their salt will want to bring their own team in, I suspect if Robins does go the rest will go with him

People have short memories.
Last season, after a mediocre start we lost 4 and drew 2 through October into early November (those 2 draws were against Stoke & Hudderfield at home) Remember those defeats at Rotherham and Preston? Simms and Wright weren't performing, we had Matty Godden leading the line. All this happened under Robins & Adi.

I am in neither the ‘he has to stay’ nor ‘he has to go’ camp. I do think it perfectly reasonable to ask questions as over the years, not just recently, there have been question marks about team selection and his use of substitutions. My own opinion of one certain central defender continually picked despite having kept fewer clean sheets than a 1 year old after guzzling six cartons of ribena every night for a week, is possibly well-known. As such, I think it reasonable that those who do think he should go should have their opinion respected and not be derided as ‘bedwetters’. If there is a need to ask the question then there is a genuine consideration that maybe now is the time for a natural change. As fans we should stick together and do our utmost for the team whoever is in the dugout (NOT Doug out!)

On point 2, I’m currently reading about the style of Eirik Horneland, manager of Brann.

I'm sure Turner or the club will report on it soon, but the club really should have been protecting Robins recently due to personal life (think fadz last season)

Instead he's still been thrust in front of cameras and taking the blame for recent showings

This is why he's looked so tired and down recently. He should have been protected by the club in my eyes

Thats shit. And as always gives perspective. We are all emotional and care deeply about the football club, but in the end it doesn't matter compared to stuff like that.

In my opinion this post is spot on. As much as I like MR and am impressed with what has been achieved under him, I think we now need to wipe the slate clean as to previous achievements, so much has changed.
I hope he gets more time to address things but we will have to see how it all pans out.

Hope Robins is okay regardless of football. We owe him a lot regardless of how it’s going right now.

Not sure what we can do to protect but the club owes him all the support they can.

Or you don't panic and give it a little while to settle down and start delivering results FFS

I’d like to think we’d be more ambitious than these names…..

Fair enough, just think there all good young managers who match the profile of what I’d be looking for. Granted I don’t follow any football outside of the EFL and premiership so don’t know who is causing great movements outside of it.

Luton are only 2 points better off than us and their team should be better than ours. The knives shouldn’t be put for Robins at this stage of the season, it’s silly talk.

It’s a different conversation if we’re 20 games in and around 19th still. For arguments sake, if we win the next 3 games, everything is forgotten about and Robins is king again.

Well that's it.

Fine if everyone want Robins gone. But that can only happen if we can bring someone better in.

How confident is everyone of us being able to do that?

If this is true, then let the poor bloke have some time out. The players can then sit and think about their actions in the meantime.

Hes a strong willed man as we all know and wanted to carry on (bar media duties).

But this is where we see the Adi leaving effect.

Robins would have knocked it on the head for a week or 2 and trusted Adi to take the reins for a while. He doesn't trust the new lot yet, and understandably so

Im sorry but i cant see this and not comment.
We have 5 points this season from a possible 18. Not 6 from 36. Last season is last season, its not relevant anymore thats why the table restarts at 0 in August.

Any talk of sacking Robins now comes from entitled fickle fans that fell for the HMS Piss the League narrative. We have started slow in both previous seasons that 1) saw us reach the play off final and 2) make a decent challenge for the playoffs before the cup run took over and drained the camps resources.

We were bottom of the league at this point in that year we reached the play off final. It absolutely does not matter what position you are in at this point of the year. Do you know who was top of the league last year 6 games in? PRESTON and where did they finish?

A lot of the disgruntlement comes from fans own created narratives and quite frankly the leaks have stopped and we know barely anything of what is happening behind the scenes.
Also, the calls to get Adi back, but sack Robins? Sorry do you want the band back together or not? We were asked last year to let the new players bed in and we were rewarded for it. The same should apply to the new coaches, we're showing glimpses of being a very good team this year, the friendlies against everton and bremen showed it. Give them time.
We are 6! games into the league season, there are 40 remaining, any talk of sacking the manager that has dragged this club kicking and screaming to a position where we can realistically be in the mix for a championship play off place regularly is utter madness.

Im a ST holder, the performances have been awful, this weekend was atrocious but there is not a single part of me that thinks removing Robins make it any better.

So to clarify as I wrote above I don’t want Robins to go I want the season to improve.

I want Robins to turn it around but believe it’s uncharted waters this season due to him not having Adi with him.

Also while I agree it’s only six games, the concern for me is that we have only gained 6 points in our last 36. That’s a concern.

I don’t want Robins to go anywhere for avoidance of doubt but just thought to answer the questions.
