Spot on.

Hes got to do it on his own terms. Pick HIS team, HIS players he knows he can't trust and are with him and make sure the message/plans are crystal clear and see where we are in next 4/5 games. If that means tossing off certain players also, then so be it - his job is on the line I suspect now and deserves better than falling on his sword because some players downed tools.

At least then he knows he's done it on his terms rather than mixed messages.
Looks like a vacancy coming up for @Saddlebrains

And here was me thoroughly enjoying our recent league campaigns 🤔 hadn’t realised we were just doing the same old thing with the same manager over & over & over & over again.

The last couple of years we have been doing a similar thing over and over, and tbh I’m talking more from a point of view in the future looking back to now.

I’m still willing to give Robins the rest of this season but if we’re not finishing near the play-offs then I don’t see why we should keep going and going with the same manager if it’s not working, particularly with the money that’s been spent. This is not a Robins-Out post, I’m just saying practically that if we tried the same manager and tactics for 5 more years when we knew it wasn’t working 5 years ago it’d seem like we’ve just wasted 5 years of time, money and momentum. Basically, when do we call it a day with Robins? I’m not saying “now”, but at what point do we switch managers?

You won't remember this BSF but it wasn't that long ago that I used to reminisce about the time Micky Adams dragged a team containing Dele Adebola and Stuart Giddings to 8th place in the championship - the only time I recalled a top flight finish in my life time. I am old.

There are 7/8 championship clubs minimum that have a bigger budget than us each season. If we are somewhere near the playoffs come May/have a good cup run/some fun along the way, I'll take that.

Poor bloke. Used to having all the accountability but fully in control.
Now has to turn up every Monday to a load of people queuing up to see him with laptops with data analytics highlighting tactics, “ elite “ performance etc etc…when he just wants someone to tell our defenders to stand in the right place.

Apologies but this is guff of the highest order. By “doing the same thing over and over” I assume you mean establishing a foothold in one of the most competitive leagues around, massively over achieving to nearly get out of it and generally improving so that we are recognised as being a very good team in the division.

Only Millwall (14) have missed more ‘big chances’ than us (13) and we’ve only converted 2. As soon as this picks up we’re going to be ok.

I’m on about the last season and the current season, and as I mentioned in my previous post I’m also referring to the current period of time looking back from a future point of view (if that makes sense?).

I’m not Robins-Out but at what point should we be? We could continue trying exactly the same tactics year after year but in the last 6 months I’m not convinced that we’ve seen a quality play style or way of managing games. I like Robins but you’ve got to admit the results since March time have been relegation form and currently Robins is not providing any answers as to how we’re going to win games. I believe he should have the rest of the season and if we’re still not in the top 10 by the end of the season then I think he should go. At what point do you think he should be sacked?

(And just for reference I believe we’ll pick up our performances and be fine by the end of the season, this is all just hypothetical in case our results don’t improve.)

You do understand what an online forum is all about, don't you?
It’s not about a minority of idiots shouting loudly against the majority,in a childish attempt to start a debate about getting rid of the manager.
You have had your survey, and seen the result.
Now shut up about it until you can see you have any support to even post it on the forum.
Debate is over. Forum discussion should be over.

The teams under Robins have always made bigger strides and improved faster than the club itself, he has always had teams punch up. Im not sure us being favoured or fancied is something he likes or has ever done well with in his management career.

He has improved as a manager but this time has to do something he has never done. And thats deal with high expectations of a club from the outside and from within, Doug has made it very clear on his vision. I dont think Doug will settle for it long term, but short to mid term he will give him latitude.

Robins will be begging for a few results over performance over the next month or so.

Was thinking about the manager question. Reconfirming I don’t want Robins to leave, but if he was to go wonder if henrik rydström would be interested in us.

Was apparently looked at by Burnley so might come depending on the offer. Feel his style would be fascinating in England where more teams look to play positional football .

I find this post baffling.

Robins record is insane, at what point did it start not working?

I firmly believe that last season we ultimately had the choice of a FA Cup run or saving the momentum for the playoffs. For whatever reason we went the FA cup route. Without that, i firmly believe we make the play offs, i dont believe we go up, but definitely make top 6.
The year before that we made the play off final and were a penalty away.

We are 6 games in this season, and in neither of the 2 previous seasons mentioned were we in any considerably better position than now at this point. We will finish near the play offs, i believe we'll finish in the play offs to be honest. The games come thick and fast in this league and teams drift away, as i said earlier in this thread, Preston were top of the league at this point last year, once they fell out the top 6 they never came back.

We're not entitled to the play offs just because we said thats what we want to do. Almost every single established or prem relegated club in this league is spending the same, if not more than us. We've not spent the money to dominate, just compete, and give the rest of the season we'll all see we have done that.

Brentford got promoted to the championship in 2014, had 3 seasons finishing in the play offs, going up in 2021. Nothing happens over night, they and Brighton, both spent (and received in) more than we have currently and built foundations that have meant they both have realistically not looked like being relegated from the prem since going up, Brighton have been in Europe! Every club in the championship is trying to replicate that success, the metric they all forget about is the time it takes.

1. Wasn't my survey

2. I voted for MR to stay.

3. Not sure you calling everyone who has a different opinion on the issue "idiots" really helps much.

4. How would anyone know that they have any "support to post it on the forum" without, err, talking about it on the forum?

5. My advice would be for you to shut up and don't engage in threads that you don't like? Like an adult would.

6. Think you should make yourself a nice camomile tea with a bit of honey, log off for a while and watch family fortunes. Come back once you've fully understood the definition of "forum".

Is anyone (who wants Robins gone) got any idea of a replacement? Not to forget the payoff we'd need to give Robins, and any new hire would probably want their own coaches etc.
Schumacher, Rosenior, Moyes? Not for me.
Lampard? Insantiy. Would remind me of our 90's trend of hiring big name ex players / managers who were all a disaster for the most part.
Butcher, Strachan, Atkinson, McCallister.
Coberan would be OK, but he's not leaving WBA and even if he did, and took us up, he'll jump ship at the first sign of interest from a Brentford or Bournemouth.

All debating aside, I genuinely think I will be inconsolable when MR does leave our club.

He has made a city love its football club again.

I know it will come eventually, just hopefully not soon.
Yeah he will go eventually and I will be a bit sad. He has given me and most of us some of the most exciting memories of supporting our club. Unfortunately nothing lasts forever so lets get behind him and the team and make some more brilliant memories before he eventually leaves

89.6% : let's be generous and say the wider fan base support is 80%. After 8 years that is some support of our Manager. Long may he Reign.

I agree, and as I said I’m not Robins-Out, I’m just wondering at which point should we consider it?

Something’s not right at the minute and personally I think if we’re still bottom half by the end of the season then maybe looking for a new manager wouldn’t be the worst thing ever.

A win on Saturday would be unbelievable. Robins is the man to turn it around!

If not…Dr Claire Marie Roberts as interim manager. Time to get those sleep patterns sorted out for real.

This makes no sense whatsoever. It’s just backwards and forwards waffle. State a position and stick to it.

I have supported the Sky Blues for over 60 years and we have had a lot - and I mean a lot - of managers in that time.

If asked to choose who has been our best manager in that time I would say it’s a toss-up between Mark Robins and Jimmy Hill.

I would actually give the award to MR because (a) he has performed well for a longer period and (b) he has done it with virtually zero resources (until we sold Gykores and Hamer last year) and under dreadful owners until King came in.

He deserves our backing and I hope he continues to be our manager for years to come. Managers don’t always have a sell-by date : look at Alex Ferguson as an example.

In that case you must think Tim Fisher deserves plaudits for managing to persuade the club’s greatest ever manager to return.

Numerous threads discussing Robins’ future. It’s ridiculous that it’s even a debate.
Last season the nucleus of this team beat Wolves, didn't lose to Man United in 120 minutes+ of playing time, and should have won. This season were leading Spurs with a few minutes to go, so the team is good enough against established premier league teams. By contrast we lost to Stoke and Swansea as well as a very average Norwich. So I think we are entitled to have a debate as to what's going on.
