Thing is, non-league players will be looking to prove themselves , and will give everything for CCFC to do that.
Prem, Championship (and now L1) coming down the leagues to us, will have a "this'll be easy" approach.
Bellamy came on the back of a cruciate knee injury. Don't think he was reall fit when with us, but went on to have a good career. If I remember didn't Pressley complain at a fans forum that there was no scouting system in place and then got one going?
Sat on the ball in a goalmouth scramble at the west end goal during the 2nd leg tie of the league cup semi final v Forest in 1990.Often heard the name but I'm too young to know details about him
It was Venus job so im not sure what he's been doing.Sounds like a good appointment. Does beg the question, why didn't mowbray or Venus* sort this earlier given they mentioned it enough times.
*not included Slade as he was always just a short term appointment until the end of the season.
Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
and he was carrying an injury.

It's safe to say that, given the fact he's left, that's a conspiracy theory too far.Busy sorting out more important things like planning permission for Ryton.

Or he was just here as Mowbray's mate, and age-old working partner.Maybe most of the work is done for Ryton so his time is done
Bit of a sweeping brush, What makes you think that?
Another way to look at it is, we are looking lower league ( possibly at the expense of a Cat 2 Academy) where as Brentford are picking up youngsters from premiership academies, some non league teams and European teams, then forging links with other European clubs, sending their youngsters abroad to play against other european teams in youth tournaments. Sending players abroad on loan... Interesting to note they have also forged partnerships with local colleges, coaching companies, Universities. Something we used to do, its not just a case of realigning our search for players all of the above ought to be included. As it not only gives us a chance of picking up decent players, but once again ties the club to the City, by contributing to the local communities and economy.
Just listened to Doyle's interview. Said Widdrington was a big part of the transfer happening and made it clear he wanted him back in a CCFC shirt. Regardless of peoples view on Doyle, it's a good start from TW, obviously a lot more hard work needed though in the recruitment department for us to succeed this season.

When Kevin Drinkell 1st arrived from Rangers he looked pure quality scoring around 6 goals towards the tail end of the season then our coaches got hold of him and all of a sudden he couldnt hit a barn door
Never seen such a change in a player from when he came in to what he was like shortly afterwards. This is the highlight of his time here. When Kevin Drinkell 1st arrived from Rangers he looked pure quality scoring around 6 goals towards the tail end of the season then our coaches got hold of him and all of a sudden he couldnt hit a barn door
I have that game on video somewhere. One of the few times we've been live on terrestrial TV and I have them all, if the tapes haven't degraded... including the glamourous 2-0 defeat to Leeds, and 0-0s v Arsenal.Never seen such a change in a player from when he came in to what he was like shortly afterwards. Can't imagine why I never digitised those...
Lee Mills was also like that! Had him on loan and couldn't stop scoring. We signed him permanently and I don't think he scored again.Never seen such a change in a player from when he came in to what he was like shortly afterwards. This is the highlight of his time here.
Sign him up, sign him up, sign him up.Lee Mills was also like that! Had him on loan and couldn't stop scoring. We signed him permanently and I don't think he scored again.
Seems like he's getting to work early with these signings ! Obrien saying that tommy had a big part in the signing of him!

Which interview was that in?
“As soon as I heard about Coventry’s interest, I knew it was a great chance for me and I took it with both hands.”
Building housesOn the CCFC website mate -
When asked about how the move came about, O’Brien confirmed that City’s new Head of Recruitment Tommy Widdrington was integral.
“I was playing in games for Portsmouth, and Tommy was watching, so I must have done enough to impress him.
