Embarrassing.

Playing to the crowd.
Exactly. Just how the club did with their pre-match tweet about us being late.
Supporting Sunderland is their crime, it is also their punishment.

I am looking forward to about 2 weeks time when nobody is obsessed with Sunderland any more.

Does this season now become a success if Sunderland miss out on promotion, meaning that us beating them screwed them over (again!)?
It helps.

All this sour grapes just makes me think how fantastic it was that we went up there and beat them, backed by nearly 3000 raucous supporters. I really expected us to lose and then to have to listen to them gloating. They really aren’t good losers are they. Bunch of arrogant tossers.
Was just thinking this exact thing myself. Absolutely loved the match as it was happening and things fortunately went our way in the end. You'd like to think that after an afternoon like that, two sets of fans could respect what a crazy match it was that could have gone either way... But because of how badly they've taken it - and continue to take it - it just makes the win all the sweeter. It's risen right up into gloating territory for me now and to the point now of hoping we've balls'd up their promotion hopes.

Yes it was a brilliant game and utterly exhilarating but absolutely no need for our fans to throw bottles on their fans below. I saw several some of which I believe were glass. No wonder they were pissed off. Defeated and attacked! We would feel equally aggrieved. I know loads of Sunderland fans who are nearly as long suffering as us and are equally sanguine. This fan hating nonsense just depresses me. What a brilliant afternoon of football it was. Enough said.
PS After the Cup final in 87 some racist cov fans ruined my sense of community. I really don't want this kind of thing to become normal

I think most average minded Sunderland supporters will be embarrassed at such amateur, childish reporting. Pathetic and factually wrong on all accounts.

I’d imagine the main man on that rag will be calling him in to ask him to stop making up rubbish as the guys embarrassing not only himself but the football club. We’re are the 9th biggest city in the country and could be said the second biggest club in this league. Get a grip man and face reality!

Did laugh at how stupid the guys made himself.
I think you're expecting a little too much from the 'average'.

In fairness - they have won much more than us in the past, they have a 49k stadium which they own themselves, their average attendance is way above ours...they averaged over 40k last premiership season.

Let us not delude ourselves we are the bigger club

Sunderland over the years have had numerous issues which in fact a documentary was made - some of this guy's comments about of fans and team are completely out of order, particularly Sunderland they play in the shadow of a BIG club namely Newcastle -
Both clubs are trying to form a closer relationship after what has gone on with the jimmy hill comments of old and the issues Saturday and this idiot just tries to stir things up again - Stuart Donaldson the Sunderland chairman was apparently distressed on Saturday - how about he gets on the phone to this idiot and bans him from the stadium
If by a miracle we get into the playoffs this twat has laid out MR's Dressing room speech against them :joyful::joyful::joyful::joyful:

Who's said we are bigger? I haven't seen anyone claim that.

They think they're fucking Barca though the way they're carrying on.

FA Cup twice....less time in the top division than Cov in the last 50 years.

Fuck me, I thought the CT and Observer were embarrassing - this is another level. Makes Cov's local rags look like the Wall Street Journal.

Let's be honest, he's written to get all of us clicking on it which = more advertising funds. Fair play to him, it's definitely worked as I've read it over and over again laughing my head off.

I've not read it once but the excerpts on here tell me that the guy is a bellend

Long suffering? Get real.

Sunderland are a Club that have flirted between the Championship and Premier League for 20 years, in the same time we've been relegated three times, moved to Northampton, on the verge of moving again and have the worst owners known in world Football, who are intent on a war with a franchise London rugby club and a corrupt Council that is run by lizards.

Sunderland fans had been hyping up this game as much as City fans, however they don't like the sore end of the stick because they lost, salty mackems.

I can't wait for the second series of the Sunderland documentary. They'll definitely feature the Coventry game as it was so action packed and they lost which makes great tv.

Imagine the bitterness and tantrums after the game from those whiney jobless crybaby fans? Pure gold.

It’ll be about 10 seconds of football and then focus on the alleged trouble is my guess. Again, not saying it didn’t happen, but that documentary will only get views from their side. We probably won’t come out of it looking too good!

I have to say the office has been laughing at the said article this afternoon.

Mimicking the article at any opportunity. :)

Just embarrasses Sunderland.

Do no such thing!
It's embarrassing for them and we should laugh it off. Their press are bad losers just like their fans.
Imagine if he ever goes for a job at a national newspaper or broadcaster, that could come back to haunt him.
I don't think media outlets are that picky to be put off by old stories etc, Simon Gilbert got another job ffs

I received a response tonight from one of there editors. Basically saying the Coventry telegraph have stirred it up. To be fair he must have took 30 mins to write a response and fair play to him but his opinion is that the freelance reporter in question has right to freedom of speech.( knew his stuff on city though)

He goes on to say the situation between the two clubs on Saturday was distasteful.

Still think the editor should of got this stopped as it’s not helping matters.
