Pressley was made to sell or otherwise lost Clarke, Wilson, Baker, Moussa, Christie. He can hardly be blamed for struggling to replace all of those tbf
Given the future career of the likes of Daniels and Phillips, he didn't do badly with what he had, either.

His league form went pretty rancid, the cup games were the exception

His win ratio by the end of this season will be higher than Robins over both tenures - it’s pretty close now

Robins only signed 2 of those players as well

7th actually (counting MR twice) and he's about on a par with Sillett.

No that’s wrong regarding Sillett and if you are including Lee Carsley etc than that’s rather silly really

I think his dismissal was a touch harsh but it had certainly turned stale

In real terms hill robins black and actually nielson were better but of course robins and hill did manage at lower levels where the ratio is a lot higher

I think out of all the sackings only Black was unjustified, Dowie possibly. Can only beat what’s in front of you though

% wins as manager of CCFC:

Mark Robins (1st time) - 51.52%
Harry Storer - 47.18%
Eric Black - 45.45%
Mark Robins (this time) - 44.64%
Jimmy Hill - 44.33%
Roland Nillson - 44.19%
Iain Dowie - 40.82%
John Sillett - 40.78%

So, like I said, Dowie is 7th in the CCFC list of managers by win % and is almost on a par with Sillett.

You go ahead though and put some sort of caveat on it G to make your point...Rather silly to do that though if you ask me...

Dowies league results ppg were no better than Colemans. He had a decent win% but had an almost identical loss %, we rarely drew games.

You have included Robins twice, counted the time Curtis and sillett managed together and only included one of Storers reigns

Stop clutching at straws G and just admit you're wrong on something.

I said on my original post that I had counted Robins twice. Hes managed in two separate periods with different squads so should be counted twice.

It doesn't matter if Sillett and Curtis were together...every manager has an Asst Mgr...its then a case of just being a job title. Joint Mgr or Asst Mgr.

I only counted one of Storers reigns because he had a higher win % than Dowie in one of his reigns.

You said you thought Dowie has the 3rd best win % in the clubs history.

That's quite clearly, and factually, incorrect.

Sillett P150 W56 D39 L55 Win%37.33 PPG 1.38
Dowie P49 W20 D8 L21 Win%40.82 PPG1.39

Black and Nilsson also have pretty impressive records. Mind you Mark Venus has a PPG record of 1.44 and 44.44win%

If we won 40% of our games this season (round down to 18) we'd most probably stay up on 54 points, even if we lost the remainder.

Black was the same we almost lost as many games as we won - I discount him a bit as he was managing a very short period and also it was a bizarre sequence of big wins followed by awful defeats

The Venus record shows how pointless new stats are vs old. He won two league games - other wins were in that stupid cup against I assume U23 and weakened teams

Perhaps though I strongly suspect he’d have fared a lot better than Peter Reid the following season

He should not have been sacked but his reputation is blown up a bit - we got thumped in some key games as well. The big difference was the guy from Iceland was superb in that period and never reproduced the form and we lost Davenport very early in Reids reign
