Picking up on a few previous comments about our new coaching staff.
previous seasons have seen MR be the man giving instructions from the bench to the players with AV and DL staying on the bench but giving advice and support.
since they have gone and the new coaching team have come in we have seen yesterday and the mat h at Bristol as well as the Oxford game up to three coaches at a time shouting orders to players on the pitch from the managers area.
surely this is confusing players and also undermining Robins as the manager. Could this be the reason the players look confused and unsure what they should be doing.
imagine being at work and you have three or four people telling you how to do your job at the same time

It is far too early to judge the new coaching team. Coaching is a long-term project not something instant.

People are talking like we never had a poor performance or a poor run of form when Viveash was at the club.

This will settle down and not be a problem.

Right now we have new coaches all eager to impress and gain the respect of their peers and players, like any new group this will settle and a norm will be found.

Its Robins job to manage his coaches, i have no doubt that he will and he will do it well.

A period of adjustment yes, a long term problem, unlikely.

It’s a completely normal coaching setup comparable to every other club.

Exactly. We’re moving to a setup that’s used in the premier league and top clubs in our league.

As long as Robins and the coaching staff aren’t recreating the Arteta Arsenal light bulb team talk, I’m happy to give them time for now.

Fitness and running ability second half yesterday seemed to be one of our main issues.

That’s not the point though is it - we’re getting more specialised. It allowed better footballers to hone individual skills.

it’s up to Robins to use all of the tools at his disposal to develop better players.

Getting more specialised so far means cramming everyone into our own 6 yard box to defend corners in the name of zonal marking.

What have I missed?

Not sure about the number of coaches being an issue
What is clear it's yet another slow start to a season where we've generally been turning in poor performances in all the areas of the pitch.
Not creating enough chances, still giving away silly goals.
The issue remains why can't we start a season properly on the front foot? 4 games in we really don't seem to have a clue what our best XI is.

Seems like when you’ve got companies like Google which have stupid pointless jobs and perks and can afford it because they’re minted. But there’s no actual benefit for a company without infinite money.

I’d disagree - the more staff the better, you’ll have individuals tailored to each player. Elite sport has that now - they’ll each have designated meal plans. It’s all about targeting each weakness.

the club needs modernisation, it’s another thing that will attract better players.

See id say the juries out - personally think our tactics are all wrong.

Robins has us set up to be a possession based low risk work into the box team. Hes tried it he last 3 seasons. After 15 games he reverts to quicker counter attacking and we do much better

Players don’t look up for it or fit, that’s supposed to be a named persons job. Our set pieces are basically as hoc, that’s another. Defensive shape is poor. Attacking patterns non existent. The coaches clearly can’t get their ideas across if they have them and the players aren’t motivated or fit.

As I say it smacks of all the gear and no idea, startup with VC funding type hires. Not the considered incremental hires you make when you’re self funding and can hire for impact and fit.

You are just entrenched in the past. How have we got worse? We had terrible pre seasons under Viveash and a terrible finish last year.

He had a high profile job at Chelsea, then was at Coventry League 2, League 1, then Championship. Nobody came in and said what is he doing at that level, we will have him?

He was a good coach but he wasn't God of the coaching world.

Give the new guys time.

Have you watched us? Read the match thread if you want specifics. We look clueless on and off the ball and unmotivated. The exact things that our new hires are supposed to be in charge of.

I’ve not seen City players look so unbothered in years as they did second half yesterday.

Yes they are capable of more. That’s exactly the point I’m making. We jettisoned our main man manager and tactician and so far it’s not looking good for the replacements.

We have started better than under Viveash some seasons. The guys reputation is a myth. Otherwise he would have been back coaching in the Premier League years ago.

I am not saying he wasn't a good coach. But he seems untouchable with criticism? He clearly wasn't faultless based on our form over several seasons. Yes we had highs but we had some lows.

Just trying to bring a bit of perspective.

One of the things which stuck out for me in Robins post match yesterday was that he sounds like he is getting pissed off with our players being kicked to pieces and us not giving out the same. Clearly supported Norman’s challenge on their keeper. Trouble is, our guys get booked for it whilst opponents can cripple our players and i5s our captain who gets booked.

Need a modern day Michael Doyle.

The last seven years aren’t a myth. It’s not about results it’s about tens of millions spent and performances getting worse not better year on year. For all the shit Sisu brought with them, we consistently improved under Robins and Viveash. Just doesn’t seem to me a coincidence that once we get a more involved owner for better or worse that starts to fall apart. Feels like Robins is here as a figurehead not as the spokesman for a tight knit coaching setup. Maybe we need to rip the plaster off and replace Robins and go all in with Kings vision, but what I’ve seen so far has been poor across the board for a lot more spend. Give them time, sure, but they’ve spent all summer with this squad and other coaching teams manage to have instant impact. I think considering the fanfare around this expanded team it’s fair to ask questions about impact.

Oh it's all down to Refs against us? Get real. Callum Doyle showed us what we are lacking. Got pushed by Simms fairly and took a nasty knock on the knee against the post. Got up played on. Got clattered fairly by Wright and ok a bit of tetchy afters. But got on with it, then clattered Wright in six yard box and the Sakamoto. Both hard but fair challenges, defending like his life depended it. When he was at Coventry as a teenager he played in every position across the central three. Far more versatile than McFadz. Doyle is a quality defender and a class above and has bounced back from his broken leg on loan at Leicester.

So far doesn’t look like any of the new replacements our good enough to replace Adi and Dennis

obviously just coaching our Centre backs to pass it to each other before playing a tediously slow ball out to the full back

hopefully it gets turned around in the next couple of weeks, but a counter attack style is the way to go
