Transfer Shouts (5 Viewers)

We are not, we are just asking for some form of investment in keeping our best players or at least replacing them with a transfer fee

How are you going to continuously sell if you don’t bring anyone in to be the next Gus

The club will therefore just end up losing money as they’re not getting any in - an important point to add which has been mentioned

Yeah but you are literally fretting about a hypothetical. You and everyone else on here including the "ITKs" on here have no idea how the club will act if and when a big fee is received. it is all speculation and prejudice against our (once) shitty owners. Three things make me think we'd be fine. 1. Robins and the team are always playing down finances, its part of the game they play they never show their hand. 2. In the past 3-4 seasons the club has always reinvested after a sale. And so far it has paid off 3. Despite what many claim the club to back Robins, big fees have been paid for Chaplin, Walker, Godden & Hamer in recent year. they sanctioned Bidwell last year at his request and were clearly set to fund wages for JCS this year

Agreed, all true.
But we are approaching a watershed; will the majority of any big sale be reinvested in the squad or not?
That will tell us all we need to know about our future with these owners.
Do you think it will be?

Because I don’t think so

I suspect not.
At which point the 'model' is in the bin and we know that the club is viewed as nothing more than a high interest borrower by the owners.

From what I’ve heard from reliable sources on here
Remember when we didn’t replace McNulty…. Or his replacement Chaplin… the reliable source has actually said we’re likely to be active in January. Or you choosing to ignore that?

I’m guessing the goal is the do what we did last season, have a good first half, nurse through to the World Cup the break comes and we can take stock then.

is it ideal? No - but I fully back this squad to get us to then. the ITK has also said we’ve priced out Gyokeres, so our goalscorer is still likely to be here, it’s looking like we’re pricing O’Hare out of a move.

is it likely Hamer is going? Yes - will be a massive loss - but I back robins to find an adequate replacement albeit on Loan until at least January.

the current squad is better than Birminghams, Readings, Rotherham, as a bare minimum. Id likely throw in Preston, Blackpool and Wigan. Hull are a bit of an unknown atm - and nobody knows what Blackburn will do with their new manager.

This is exactly the mindset people had before the 2011-12 season

That went well

Glad to be back in a position where we are speculating if we are better or worse than the teams likely to get relegated. It’s great.

Im glad for the Info from the ITK you mention but really how close to the inner circle is he? its one thing having some names of players arriving or leaving but its another knowing the full on financial plan.

Also a few have suggested that particular ITK is the chap who helped the club out with the money for the gym/changing rooms a few years back... if that is the case i'm sure Robins and the team are always telling him we are broke in the hope for another pay out :D

we beat Fulham both times. could give less of a fuck about perceived squad strength.

It’s not really though is it? We’d previously lost King, Gunarsson and Westwood - and replaced them with Joe Murphy and Chris Dunn.

we lost our goals and most creative player along with one of the best goalkeepers in the league.

we plugged them with youth and had the worst manager known to man. We were rightly favourites for relegation.

once we sold Turner we brought in McDonald.

the difference is we’re only likely to lose 1 player, and the current squad is full of players who have played multiple times in the championship

ill Be alarmed if we sell Hamer, Gyokeres and O’Hare are sold with no replacement but at this point in time thats not the case

I think it's difficult to compare the now to then really. Fees received for Chaplin, Bayliss and McNulty would've probably gone further than whatever we're likely to receive now due to the club's significantly lower wage bill and much lower club operating costs.

With our wage bill likely being around 100% of turnover, and factoring in the EFL loan and interest payments as well as instalments due on Gyokeres and Sheaf it's clear that the club's ability to reinvest a fee this summer back into the playing budget is going to be incredibly limited - far more so than it probably would've been in the past.

Has anybody said we shouldn't replace somebody if they go? Think the difference is the realism to know it's not going to be half of the fees received...

So if we were to sell, let's say Hamer and O'Hare for a combined 15 million, then it's unrealistic to expect Robins to be given half

So people are saying they're happy if we flogged Hamer and dont get a replacement?
Nobody is saying they’ll be happy with that. Doubt we’ll get a like for like replacement, but we’re likely to replace with someone who is adequate.

it won’t be a case of - “well we’ve got Jamie Allen, so off we go”

Why is adequate acceptable though?

We would have made a 9 million quid profit on him if the rumoured figure is to be believed.

Absolutely no reason why say 3 of that shouldnt be made available to MR no?

What big sale? No fucker has left, its literally BS speculation from no marks and tossers spouting bollocks.

This could actually be one of the very few years I can recall when the manager hasn't been told to sell his best asset.

If we can actually hang on to our proven performers fir once, at the expense of not gambling away money on risky big money signings, then I'd say that's excellent backing from the owners.

Doesn't it sat something when our better players are signing new contracts instead of demanding moves?

This thread is entirely based on speculation fatso, so when I mentioned a big sale, I'm talking about a potential big sale. Understand now?

And I'm potentially the next king of England.
When does the speculation end and the reality kick in?

And I don’t disagree with you. Fact is our owners aren’t stumping up, and they’re using the EFL loan, and the fact our wages are high as the excuse.

if you listen to what Skybluebeliever is saying, we’ll have the wages available. The club will be more active post World Cup,

with the wages available, if it’s believed Hamers New contract is somewhere between 12-15k per week, I have faith that Robins can bring in someone be it on loan or on a free that’s better than Allen/Kelly/Howley, but I accept they won’t be as good as Hamer.

I won’t be happy, but like last season the meltdown is just OTT.

This thread, and lets be honest this whole forum, is about speculation.
If you want reality, why are you even on here reading this stuff you idiot?

Let's be honest if one goes the quality of the squad takes a step backwards. The owners should repay the wholly unnecessary interest they extracted in 2019 which would pay the rest of one of the big 3's contract.

This is key. By all means run sustainably, and that means players have to be sold and not all the fee reinvested in the squad itself but... don't add extra handicaps so we're doing that game with one arm tied behind our backs.
