"This will conclude our transfer business in this window."

The name of the "foreign" target was Christian Rasmussen. Just been told that this was the player we were apparently in for. I wonder if there will be any mention of it now the window has closed.

Let's keep things in perspective.

If this deal gets done it's because we really want the player, it's no panic buy. We probably think his stock will only go up and if loaning him back secures a major target then so be it.

It's a shame we haven't got cover in for the wings but we have done ok so far and are pretty adaptable when we need to switch it up.

Let's not forget it's usually us being poached for stars. it's only last Jan we were shitting it that we'd lose Hamer or Vik. This window there haven't really been any scares. We spent 2m+ on an exciting prospect in Torp. Nice to get business done early there.

We Have been linked to a few quality player but couldn't get them over the line. Better to not panic and pay over the odds when the market has a lot more value in the summer.

Loads to be excited about with a potential cup run and no reason why we can't stay in the play off picture. All still with a nice fat wallet ready for the summer.

some fair points, but wouldn’t say ‘panic buy and pay over the odds’ looking at the price some of the teams around us have managed to get these players for….

One good thing I guess is no bids for COH we know about, although maybe the teams he may be interesting are more aware of FFP and also that come summer he’ll be a free agent.

Like I said, not doom and gloom from me just genuinely confused and, yeah, a bit underwhelmed by it really, especially given this time a week or so ago we were talking about (allegedly 🤔) rivalling Benfica for a player that would’ve cost almost 10 million.

IF (big if) we did rival Benfica with that bid that a positive sign surely? Didn't come off this time but shows intent to sign players of the right quality rather than just plug gaps.

I wasn't really referring to our rivals with the 'panic' comment. I meant that is being prepared to drop 3m+ on a player and instantly loan him back shows we really want him. It's not just a case of a last minute scramble. Shows to me that there is a proper long term plan.

As for our rivals some of the Hull signings looks decent but it's so risky having that many loans. Could go tits up easily, also feels like they are a bit top heavy. We'll see.

I'm happy with a slowly slowly approach. We have to stay sustainable

again, fair points, and time will tell!

Have I missed something as the O'Hare rumour about him leaving during the window never happened. We still have him for the remainder of the season which I'm pleased about

Literally no idea how good this Mason-Clark geezer is but once again I don’t think he was on anyone’s radar. Our recruitment really looks all over the shop tbf to them, let’s hope he’s better than Peterborough (not that they’re awful for a League 1 team).

Still can’t help but have a small feeling of disappointment though, I was hoping we’d be aiming a little bit higher than a Peterborough player, I was hoping for an exotic pick from a European league again, oh well always better to have more options going forward.

He’s on loan from Ajax with an option to buy. Think your agent pal has had your pants down
Correct, he is on loan until June 2024, he has been at Ajax since 2019 and by their standards not lived up to expectations. Of course Nordsjælland will have an option to buy, he started his career at Nordsjælland. What people fail to understand is an option to buy means very little if another club comes calling with a £4 million bid and Nordsjælland do not have the funds to activate the option to buy the player.

You can easily sit there and say "your mate has had your pants down" what you fail to understand is Coventry City would have been in for literally loads of players during this window, not too mention some of the players they have missed out on in January will very much be chased and worked on until the Summer transfer window opens.

It's easy to throw criticism around without understanding the actual reality behind signing players, According to a reporter from The Sun and then reported by Andy Turner Benjamin Rollheiser was on the verge of signing for £9 million quid until he decided to join Portuguese giants Benfica. You would believe that even tho the initial rumor was reported by The Sun, not to mention the actual reality that we were never in any way near signing Benjamin Rollheiser.

When someone has credible information and isn't just throwing around names like Oscar Bobb, it's worth posting. The fact i was told something will happen regarding a foreign player from a credible person who I 100% wouldn't doubt based on their job it's absolutely worth me posting, the reason why is because this is a group of like minded individuals that support Coventry City football club, we all want the club to sign players and we are all trying to find out who is signing. So when i am told what i am told the first thing i am going to do is post it in this group because i want to find out if anyone else has heard anything similar or knows anything more than what i know. This is how information is shared and pieced together.

When you mention something and then immediately are called an idiot or whatever else, number one it doesn't help anyone and lastly it's kind of counterproductive given the fact the name of this actual thread is called "transfer targets"

Andy Turner will very much protect the interests of the football club, telling people we are in for 3,4 players when the end result is either no1 or 1 signing makes the club and Andy look silly. Take what Turner says as a direction in the dark but also with a pinch of salt. I am standing by what i said regarding a foreign player joining the club, the source i have is a credible source within the game. Whether i get it right or not doesn't bother me in the slightest i am merely telling other Coventry City fans what i have been told, and that being a foreign player coming in.
The pinch of salt player looks a good prospect.

Yeah…this planning malarkey feels strange.

Another big clear out? Kelly? Allen? Godden? Bidwell?! Can’t think of too many we would get rid of tbh.
Shows how much of a good job Robins and his team are doing.

The life of a footballer can be shite. Play your best giving it everything you can. Get promoted. Get replaced then have to start again.

The simple facts we were linked and Andy Turner even latching onto those reports regarding the £9 million pound bid for Benjamin Rollheiser is laughable.

Franco Mastantuono, Argentinian, 16 years old, currently on the books at River Plate, now if we were genuinely in the market for South American prospects,Franco Mastantuono is a player Coventry City could sign with absolute ease within the next 12 months.

A bid of £5 million would be more than enough. As far as Franco Mastantuono potential in the next 4 years, you're looking at a player that will be valued in the region of £15-£25 million.

Benjamin Rollheiser has a market value right now at £10 million, since when have we ever bid that kind of money for a South American player that is already valued so high? since when have we ever bid for South American players in general? and since when have we bid £9 million for a player other than Haji Wright, who was supposed to be our lord and saviour after Gyokeres left and since has been shifted out on the left hand side because of his inability to cut it playing centrally.
