I've heard no rumours at all other than Vik to Brentford. If we lose our best player to Brentford when we're on a level playing field then we are in trouble.

We arent on a level playing field though are we! I know Brentford isnt a glamorous name but they are an exceptionally well run club nowadays miles down the line from where we are currently. We are heading in the right direction but they are 9th in the prem with a chance of securing europe on the last day of the season

They have the lowest wage bill in the prem currently don't they? If we accept we can't compete with that then we're fucked. We're a bigger club with a bigger fanbase, fuck losing players to Brentford from within the same division.

You lot are so negative it's actually painful. We're not losing our best players if we go up. Come back and quote me to gloat if I'm wrong, I can take it.

Not sure why you are taking it so hard. you must have seen similar happen countless times before. Players feck off for the money or to better their situation all the time. They have short careers, id say if they get a better offer they are totally off.

Not saying its always a good decision, look at McNulty jumping ship after we were promoted. Bright chasing the money etc etc.

What I’m concerned about is - we could offer Gyokeres say 50k a week on promotion. West Ham who have watched him extensively by all accounts could offer 75k

given his ability, unless we
Match this he’ll be off. We won’t let him go for £0 regardless of League

I agree, we won't. I just don't think he'll go yet, he'll sign a good contract with a relegation relegation clause imo.

It’s not in his interest to sign a new contract though - if he was to say leave on a free, he’s likely pocketing a bigger chunk in signing on fees

I really don't get this not in his interest. He seems to like it here, he'll be going up a level to challenge himself in the prem, and we'll be paying him a shit load more money. This clubs done a lot for Vik, no everyone is a mercenary, he's come on leaps and bounds under Robins.

Well that's the hope. But it is just a hope. Usually money and status talks especially when the times running out on contracts.

Could happen but it is rare. I would give my left nut for them both to sign but really won't suprise me if they leave

With West Ham, they could be in Europe, he can move to London and earn more at a stable club

I agree with Tracksuit Tom
Maybe i'm just an optimist mate. I would really hope that the first thing we do upon returning to the top flight after 2 decades out of it wouldn't be immediately sell our best players, but who knows...

If we were offered crazy money, we should accept. But even then you’d have to recruit like Forest have done.

If we don't go up, it's very likely they'll be sold as we can't afford to let them leave on a free.

If we do, then there is a chance they'll stay, as they would have PL football and we'd undoubtedly offer them new, vastly improved contracts. However, they may include relegation wage reductions and may not even be as much as other teams would be willing to offer them.

Trouble is, if they take their time thinking about these contracts it really messes with our pre-season planning, because we can't be sure if they'll be here and I doubt we'd sign their replacements just in case. Doug wouldn't like the idea of potentially missing out on those fees if we get towards the end of the summer transfer window without them signed up, as if they then choose not to sign they can only be sold in Jan, when they can sign pre-contracts or even just decide to run their contract down and see what offers they get as a free agent.

So I'm erring on the side of them leaving and will be pleasantly pleased if they don't.

O'Hare, on the other hand, I think will sign a new deal and would be surprised and disappointed if he didn't.

Likelihood is Vik and Gus played for us for the last time yesterday. We now need to hold out for maximum transfer money for them this summer.

The 2 of them basically takes the majority of our goal involvements out of the team and 2 huge characters as well. Big job to find some players who can replace them.

Even if bottom end we get a combined £20m for them, the next gems can be found. Between them I think they cost us £3m.

We have to look at the Brentford model when they cashed in on the likes Watkins and Benrahma. It made their squad stronger overall.

Amazingly we got to where we did yesterday with a paper thin squad, considering the injuries to key players. We need better quality in squad depth.

Will be tough to see our fans favourites leave but we know there will be new heroes.

Yeh they will both go and I’d prefer we got it done early doors. The problem is I think we over estimate how much any fee would be spent on improving the squad incrementally.

What I mean is the contracts the current players are on are likely reflective of the stature of our club when they signed…which for the most part has been a mid table championship club which was relatively quickly promoted. Players would now be positioning that we are a club banging in the door of the premier league.

Same goes for any new signings. If ten players want an extra 3k a week that’s an extra 1.5mill a year every year.

Doesn’t sound a lot but quickly adds up if you look at it over a couple of years

Think we need to be careful, think there’s going to be a significant amount of turnover in the summer, and I think realistically we are looking at another season or two of cementing our position as top half.

Im absolutely gutted

Try & keep Hamer and build a midfield around him talk him into signing a new contract with a proviso in letting him move on if we miss out next season and make him club captain. Vik, I’d try the same route contract wise but he is hot property and the Ivan Toney situation at Brentford hasn’t helped.
As for the rest of the squad a whole new backline 2 wing-backs three experienced CBS no kids, a rock solid defence is imparitive to the way we play, I’d sign McNally on a permanent deal if possible but he’s with a premier club, proved he can play and might take his chance at Burnley, I think I would.
Then we need an injection of proper pace at wing-back, strength and power in midfield and at least one extra striker even if Vik stays. Luton’s wide players on the ball were so dangerous with the ball at their feet and getting beyond our backline.

Hamer turns 26 this summer, so I doubt he will want to stay in the Championship for another season. I hope he does but just can’t see it. He deserves to be playing at a higher level.

Realistically McNally worse case we should be able to get on loan. Jay DaSilva will be a decent signing if we can get that over the line.

We need new perm options on the right hand side of the team. Dabo and BNC will be gone.

We need a couple of new strikers in the summer to replace Walker and Vik. One of those will have to be a marquee signing.

Be interesting to see when the released players list comes out; will seem harsh after yesterday but Kelly, Dabo, Walker and Rose all gone?

Doyle, Cuffy, Ebanks Blake, Panzo, McNally all back to parent Clubs.

Vik and I think Gus gone.

That’s a massive churn we’re effectively looking for 11 players this summer.

Not even sure where we start.

Well he seems happy and thrives on playing regular, like I said pay him proper money get better players around him and try and convince him to play another year here will benefit him, of course he will have a price as all players do.

We can only hope. But he’s refused a new contract to date.

It is, the club needs to try and buy time, from yesterdays starting line up I’d say we need seven newbies minimum and that’s without the Gus & Vik issue, bloody big ask to get all that right.

Cash in on Vik while there is still big interest. I’m not sure he is going to be the megastar everyone thinks

He won’t be prolific in a higher leagues but will be decent. The reality is he was in a baron spell in front of goal for us lately. However he was still involved in goal contributions. I don’t actually think the PL will be the best place for him. Somewhere like Germany might be better suited.

We got through the playoffs mainly on Hamer’s form in my opinion.

I agree, I think the Germany or Italy would be better suited to him.
