Sounds like he wants £25k/wk as that’s what Wright is on.

That’s £5.2m over a four year deal, though it would probably be 3.5 so more like £4.5m

I’d argue we’ll be spending that on wages and fee for a replacement anyway. £10k/wk is £1.8m over three and a half years, and that’s at the cheap end. So the question is is he worth £2.5m give or take? I think the answer is obviously yes. For about the same cash if not a little more you’re getting Scott Twine who has hardly set the division alight.
And the small matter of losing Hamer should focus the mind.

Course he does we gsve him his first team chance and have paid his wages for no work performance for almost a year!
Doesn’t mean he’ll stay but there’s mutual respect there
The things certain are
He will be sold if he doesn’t sign during January
Robins loves him
Ohare loves robins
He’s hugely popular in the squad
He’s hugely popular to the fans

he’s the last of the 3 stars but we are already seeing the rise of others
Delusional to think he does. The club would dispense with him if of no use.

I didn't say he was I just meant you get 2 million which pays for his fee and you own him for 4 years or whatever. No brainer to me. O'Hare would still have to be replaced elsewhere.

We should have the £2mil anyway for the Hamer fee. It should be Styles *and* O'Hare going forward.

I think a lot of fans will he disappointed as can’t see us doing a lot. Will have to offload a couple first I should think but not sure who Robins will let go - more to free up space than wages.

Still think we need another centre forward option to compete with Simms. Godden just not sharp enough anymore.

And another midfielder, box to box. But as Robins always says, it has to be better than what we’ve got and it isn’t too bad at the moment. Not sure who is out there.

That’s exactly how the club should look at it. Annoying when players hold all the cards in the last year of their contract but if it doesn’t break our wage structure ie put him alongside wright, then I can’t imagine they’d be many complaints from players or fans

For the injury in his workplace that he suffered, while giving full commitment to his employer.

What else should we do?!?
Can we please stop using this ill informed rationale.

the point being made is that we assume Coventry City continued to pay COH in full while he was injured. Therefore some loyalty back would be good.

No employer is legally obligated to pay any employee on long term sick in full.

In COH”s case I suspect being paid in full was part of his personal contract with the club, and that is where the legal obligation kicks in.

however the crux of the argument is about his moral obligation not his legal one.

Nonsense. If O'Hare had not recovered we wouldn't offer him a contract. There would have been no loyalty to him.

O'Hare has given us great service and I hope he will stay with us but this criticism of him is completely unfair.

Didn’t king say that we’ll be making some signings in January? Something along the lines of not as many as in the summer but fans can expect some new signings.

I mean he might’ve been lying/I might’ve imagined it but it seems strange thing to do either way.

We gave Jones new contracts though.
We did and that was impressive, in our favour, made us look like a caring compassionate club, the kind you'd want to join as they looked after their players. That reflected well on us.

Not paying a contracted player any time they're unavailable to play however...!

We don’t need to be hypothetical though because he has recovered.

he could therefore sign a 1 yr deal extension ensuring we get some value for him but also ensuring he gets a good move too.

that’s not nonsense that’s an option that is open to him and his agent.

O’hare would’ve been offered a contract long ago.

I really want COH to sign a new deal but the fact he keeps deflecting when asked the question isn’t encouraging ….. he’s off on a free before don’t forget

Just saying this idea that we’re all robotic economic agents doesn’t really pass muster.

He was working for almost a year to get back to the levels of performance that you’re seeing now - that in itself has been a full-time job.
You see of course partially correct.

full time job and pro footballer are never actually the same thing nudged by most other standards.

All footballers are rewarded for what they do on the pitch not how well they recover off it.

They had some very good players tbf, Styles is one of them. Slept on on this forum. 2 million would be a steal.

I like Styles, but I think selling O’Hare and spending the money on him would be an obvious downgrade. If £2 million was a steal then someone would have met that release clause by now.

Unless it's foregone conclusion?

He's a different player, I'm just saying you use the funds on someone like Styles and you've got yourself a good player from the proceeds vs losing him for nothing, its just an example, I'm probably not getting my point across very well.
I still think Styles is a steal and a no brainer for a whole host of Championship clubs.

Didnt Godden sign like a new 3 year contract at the beginning of this season?

i’m hopeful he and Robins acknowledge his time here (albeit he’s been an incredible player and servant) is over. We need better and his 3 year wages would be better spent elsewhere. Will go down as a legend in my eyes though

We wouldn’t get much money for him in Jan considering he can go for a free in summer, so keeping him till the end of the season will give us the best chance of a push for the playoffs

Exactly.

But worth noting that O’Hare gets his say as well. He may decide to turn down a move in January, even if Cov are offered millions.

Thats because O’Hare gets more options if he is available on a free. More money as well
