My thoughts exactly.

It seems incredible that a man who is almost certainly the most corrupt US president ever and has a family renowned for dodgy dealings accuse someone else of those things.

It'd be like someone complaining about people pissing in the swimming pool while crouched over the shallow end curling one out.

Even a criminal conviction doesn't stop him running. He'll scream "fix"and his supporters will believe him. But there will some Republicans who know the essential floating voters (especially female) will hold it against him.
He can appeal but would that be concluded before the republican primaries?

Meanwhile desantis is now being charged with something but no one seems sure what.

Goes without saying but the best thing to happen for US and rest of the world is republicans (and democrats) to sort their shit out and move forward with new leaders. Can’t have a sex pest or 80+ year old senile guy as leader of the free world. To have that choice once is an embarrassment, to have it twice is inexcusable.

Think I saw something else about lobbying from insurance companies and him giving his donors favours at the expense of taxpayers. But I’d think that’s nothing unusual in the US. Or here for that matter.

Thing is it wouldn't be that much better. Most Republican's, and especially those high up in the ranks, would have the likes of Reform over here saying 'steady on'. There's some absolutely shockingly vile individuals.

I'm amazed Biden is running again. I'd always assumed he was the safe non nutter candidate, and if it wasn't a disaster his VP would have a go this time around.

There was talk of some sort of espionage charge but it doesn't look like that's happened.
The story about them trying to flood the room with the files in is pure slapstick, going to be great when that comes out in court.

Edit - some reports saying he has had espionage charges thrown at him.

Espionage Act charge is based about his retention of the documents after telling the National Records that all docs had been returned. Most charges are around obstruction. The full details aren't available yet. Even Trump's own lawyers don't have the full details as yet.

The question that still needs an answer is why did he take them initially and why was he so desperate to keep hold of them ?

I doubt it. He's been compared to a Mafia Don in the US press. They brave it out and all their cronies jump onto the sword blade to protect him. The fact he's still on his social media platform saying "I've done nothing wrong" strongly points to him thinking he's going to get away scott free again. Besides, he's so recognisable. Where could he go and what country would take him ? The moment he runs, he loses the Secret Service protection so he'd be on his own, literally.

Hold on guys, Biden did the same with a garage and other locations full of classified documents! Presidents are allowed to take documents and aids do it for them. trump offered their return & it was deliberately ignored, then they made a raid with all media watching. It's a complete set up. They are scared of the man that would rescue America's slide into woke, debt ridden reality under a demented president.

Some of the charges would have only been misdemeanors if they hadn't recently been upgraded to felonies by, checks notes, president Donald Trump! Seems he's stitched himself up, Its fucking hilarious.
