There are only two real questions to be asked regarding the shooting:

1. How was he allowed such a good shot?

2. How did he miss his target?

The answer to 1, based on some of the very slow responses to other mass shooters, is gross incompetence.

Answer to 2 seems to be he was interrupted by local police and rushed

Which would seem to be a pretty good reason for banning bump stocks, to me. Pity the republicans don't agree...

People that know far more about how the legal system in America works than me seem to think the 11th circuit whatever that is will overturn this without a second thought

Then they'll be a counter appeal, it could run for some time yet.
Though not sure if Trump can kill it if/when he becomes president

Yes, you could be right, must confess I wasn't aware of how critical he was. He's certainly been very pro Trump in recent years and is a very confident and impressive communicator.

It comes to something where I'm looking at his wiki entry and thinking I expected Trump to pick worse than an anti abortion reactionary!

At least he seems to be vaguely pragmatic and realistic with it... even if he has thought Trump is Americas Hitler (!) Maybe he thinks he can moderate him a bit too.

The guy also supported Jan 6th/rigged election theory and has said on record that Ukraine will have to cede territory to Russia.

Haven't followed this thread much, but on a fairly shallow level I was amused at the size of the bandage applied to his wound. The slight cynic in me thought 'make the bandage as large and visible as possible' . Apologies if I am slightly wide of the mark (intended)

He could announce probably anyone as VP now and win comfortably, but this pick is likely to just shore up his vote in the mid West.
