This is my frustration with Trumps isolationist. So much of the development we have seen is due to post WW2 cooperation.Interdependency is the answer to a civilised society. Our own may come first but it can’t be at the expense of everyone else

Unfortunately most countries don’t play by that rule. Certainly a Trumpian USA won’t.Interdependency is the answer to a civilised society. Our own may come first but it can’t be at the expense of everyone else
Knew that would upset you. Sorry it’s what he says about being a real man and not caring about your words and actions and there effect others. Don’t be so tough on others is all I’m saying
For the reason you gave “uneducated people are easily influenced and swallow”
Least of our worries,Yes and we invented the gun
Governments in this era cannot or will not help and electorates now seem to like fascists and dog whistlers instead of problem solvers. So rather than wait for such people to get elected and society to change I should just look out for number one.You won’t just look after yourself as you’re better than that in fact from what I’ve seen and know much better than that and you won’t change
A wise man once said if voting changed anything they wouldn’t let us do it
I’m focusing on the serenity prayer this morning
Lost on someone who gets upset any time someone says something they don't like to them.
Moral of the story for this election.Politicians are not looking out for you.
Oh look Ring of Steels twin has turned up
Oh no, they're getting upset.
In some ways community and looking out for each other are more important than ever so I get your point Pete. You won’t just look after yourself as you’re better than that in fact from what I’ve seen and know much better than that and you won’t change

Much the same reasons we kicked out the tories. Inflation (cost of living) and immigration being out of control.Point I'm trying to make is, the tide on here, and the UK seems to be Trump is the worst thing that could happen
So why has America voted him back in? And it's not even close, he's pissed it
’The only Remainer in the village’ has a nice ring to it!Mate I’m the only liberal in a friendship group that’s left wing is somewhere in Reform territory. I’m the only Remainer in the village and my friends are mostly agency workers or unemployed. I’m also the only one with a degree bar my best mate. Just to get that out while we’re playing poor person Top Trumps.
What I’ve seen since the advent of social media is a massive rise in conspiracy and tabloid nonsense. And a refusal to talk about it with anyone who doesn’t agree. Everything is “immigrants get a free house and a free car I saw it on Facebook” and let’s be honest it’s the only issue that’s ever raised generally. There are genuine concerns around social cohesion and the like wrapped up in there, but mostly it’s no deeper than a boomer Facebook meme about how homeless veterans deserve more than illegal immigrants that falls apart on the slightest questioning.
I love these people, but their ability to parse information is not great. One of my mates keeps getting scammed on WhatsApp by fake women, another believes literally everything they read online, a third spent lockdown arguing with nurses that Covid didn’t exist cos he read it online
None of them are right wing in the classic sense BTW. “Traditional Labour voters” is what you’d have called them in the 90s. They want tax on the rich, investment in public services, crack down on big business. They just also want no brown people about and that’s the driving force above all else.
Call it what you want but there’s a serious problem with people with poor information literacy being exposed to the internet. It happens on the left too, a hippy girl I know is a great example, but it’s far far more prevalent on the anti immigration right.
Governments in this era cannot or will not help and electorates now seem to like fascists and dog whistlers instead of problem solvers. So rather than wait for such people to get elected and society to change I should just look out for number one.
Why would I be upset. It’s 2016 all over again and people still don’t get it
See that fear I can at least understand and suspect it’s more of a factor than some “elites” moaning on twitter.Just waking up here in SW Florida.
Clear lesson is ignore the electorate's concerns about immigration at your peril.
Massive shift to Trump by African American and Latino men was pivotal.
15m illegals coming into the country, driving down wages and taking their jobs was the reason.
Trump recognised it. Dems thought they could ignore it.
Nah. Tim Walz has done brilliant things as governor of Minnesota, they even nearly managed to lose that state too.Hardly. There are/will be plenty of people in society who could really benefit from your help, and likely didn't vote for politicians whose policies are making their lives harder. Lending yourself to them doesn't make you gullible or naive.
No, you're definitely not getting upset.

People don’t know good politicians even when they’re on their own doorstep.
It’s funny, I said at the start of the night Kamala was a terrible candidate and was shot down immediately. Why would I be upset. It’s 2016 all over again and people still don’t get it

Giving children free school meals? What a dick.Perhaps that's because he's despised in his home state.
Does the data actually back that up though? Not looked in depth but the few things I have seen show that most metrics have improved under Biden.Because he offers a solution, rather than just more of the same shit.
He consistently asked voters "are you better off today than you were 4 years ago?"
And the answer was a resounding no.
So that was it, a very simple question, and a very simple campaign. Job done.
thats it?Giving children free school meals? What a dick.

I've no idea on the cost of things in American shops, but im sure the voters there do.Does the data actually back that up though? Not looked in depth but the few things I have seen show that most metrics have improved under Biden.
If that's not correct then fair enough but if its true how do you get around the issue of people voting based on vibes rather than facts?
Giving children free school meals? What a dick.
It’s funny, I said at the start of the night Kamala was a terrible candidate and was shot down immediately.
At the end of the night, she’s all but being sweep in the swing states, avoided a concession speech, and democrats are attacking her campaign strategy i.e. focusing solely on Trump at the expense of her outlining her vision for the US.
The US is a two party state, most voters are voting on their values and principles rather than the individual candidate.
Paid family leavethats it?
I will continue volunteering in the way I have for almost a decade. Politically though, I’m checking outI'll keep engaging with my community regardless of who's in power. I know I can help people on a local level, and it's worth doing.
