I see Starmer is now in the US.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if the planned meeting is going to be led by Musk and the Tate brothers 🤪

I'm sure Starmer will stick to his principles, like always.

A million centrist delusions of Kier Starmer as the prime minister in Love Actually are shattered

Trump administration 'very pleased' about increase in UK defence spending, official says

Reuters has posted some snaps from a briefing given by an official in the Trump administration.

Senior Trump administration official: Very pleased with UK’s increased defense spending
Senior Trump administration official: Pleased with Starmer’s discussions of committing British troops to help enforce peace
Senior Trump administration official: Economic partnership with Ukraine does not include specific guarantee of funding for future warfighting
Senior Trump administration official: Trade to be part of trump-starmer discussions
Senior Trump administration official: US wants reciprocal, equal trade with UK
None of this is very new, but the news that the White House is “very pleased” about the increase in UK defence spending (as opposed to just being “pleased” with the commitment about troops for Ukraine) is noteworthy. It is a bit stronger than the comment from Pete Hegseth, the US defence secretary, welcoming the budget uplift on Tuesday.

I wasn’t wrong at all. He’s already abandoned his principles whenever it’s benefited him.
what the fuck did you expect him to do? go to washington and call him a c**t?

He has always said country over party and that was exactly what the UK needed at this time.

It's bizarre. Sounds like it went quite well by all accounts, really not sure what people were expecting to happen.

it went better than most people expected, Trump seems to genuinely quite like him

Avoided tariffs and got him to row back on his Zelensky is a dictator comment.

Handing him the letter from the King although cringey as fuck is the exact kind of thing that Trump laps up (because he's a man child).

It's weird that Starmer looked on in awe during his initial handshake with Trump. Looked like a fan meeting his hero for the first time.

Master stroke from Brexit fan Trump.
Says he'll work on a trade deal for UK but threatens EU countries with a 25% tariffs.

That's a dilemma for Europhile Starmer and potentially massive problems for Germany and France manufacturing.

Don't think there's any doubt who was pulling the strings yesterday in Washington.
