Trump is my favourite comedian of the year already (5 Viewers)

Or you could just ask the much more important question, what will the rambling orange lunatic do if he gets into power again?

He's literally banging on about immigrants eating people's cats and crying about being treated unfairly in the last election because enough people didn't vote for him.

He's a dangerous idiot, in it purely for himself - how much evidence does anyone need to see that.

Yeah, I’ve watched about half, Trump really struggles to maintain control/focus…just gets involved in rants. I didn’t agree with how Harris became candidate but she’s performed pretty well so far
Debates haven’t mattered much in the past. This one might be different given how bad the performance was but I think there are very few genuine undecided voters and even fewer who were already voting Trump who will suddenly change their mind.

Yeah, as you say, pretty much everyone’s probably picked their team already. Those swing states will come down to small numbers though so the debate performances could have an impact

But we do it here all the time!🫣🤔

Nearly every article from the BBC about Harris reads as if they are endorsing her as well. It has been like it ever since Biden dissapeared. It's weird, but they are obviously worried Trump can win. It will be close, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it backfire to be honest.

Because anyone with a brain can see how utterly terrible Trump being back in would be.

He's pretty much said he would turn it into a dictatorship where people have to swear loyalty to him, not the country. Can you think of any other examples from history where that happened....

That isn’t how I read the BBC analysis of the debate-if anything, it pointed out Harris’ flaws as a candidate which Trump didn’t focus on because he got triggered early on.

That's not the point.

If we do democracy based on what one set of people think then it becomes very dangerous. It doesn't matter if Trump is a clown or not.

There are multiple snippets in there leaning towards Harris. Combine that with nearly every single article about her being in a positive light. It is a bit questionable and very often reads as if it is the BBC's preferred candidate that they are endorsing.

Every reporter has an opinion, but if you watch the debate, by any measure Trump did very badly. At some point it can’t be bias to just directly quote a man saying it’s his right to interfere with elections, or falsely stating that immigrants are eating pets.

If he has a problem with it, maybe he shouldn’t go round saying things like that in the first place.

pretty much this, all anyone needs to do is watch the debate to see how very, very badly trump did

next they'll be telling us that all eyes have a "left leaning bias"

This isn't confined to the debate. It has been happening ever since Biden got lost and Harris appeared at the front.

Well that's what Trump is planning if he wins. He is going after anyone not aligned or loyal to him. Lawyers, judges, officials, advisors, civil servants. He will start imprisoning people for disagreeing with him, and the Supreme Court have basically said he can. In fact he could effectively have any opposition murdered and because he's president he's immune.

If you don't realise just how bad and dangerous a second Trump term would be for democracy then I can't help you.

If your complaint is Trump and Vance being quoted as saying batshit crazy things on the campaign trail I can’t help you. Harris’ shortcomings as a candidate aren’t being excluded from these articles.

Not that it matters either way in swaying opinion, I think the vast majority of US voters have been set on their choice for a long time.

Nope. Please read what I've written and try again.

I don't have an issue with calling Trump out on his bullshit. I have an issue with the media fan-girling Harris and endorsing her as if she was their preferred candidate, which is what has been happening.

Did anyone else watch the debate?

Overall I found it depressing but then thought well what did you expect?

The only thing that really surprised me was Kam's position on Guns, she said she had one, Timmy had one and no one was coming for your Gun. Not qualified, sounded like something straight out of the NRA. I wonder how that will go down.

Anyway for those who missed it.

The BBC articles I’ve read haven’t been guilty of that in my view. There is one today in the Evening Standard which most certainly is however, and I’m surprised you haven’t pointed it out already.

Trumps gone off the deep end today, trying to squirm out of any further debates and claiming he won "by a lot".

If he fannies out that'll be him done

I trust then, that you're as critical regarding how outlets like Fox News (with an actual direct influence on U.S. voters), pander endlessly to Trump's worst conspiracy theories?

In the meantime, of course, the biggest threats to democracy are the people who try to subvert it directly, by say, knowingly lying, pressuring public officials to change ballot results, or encouraging an actual insurrection against the legitimate transfer of power.

What the BBC says, or how it says it, is pretty small beans compared to that.

I would say actively trying to manipulate election results is anti-democracy, but each to his own. He’s lucky to even be allowed to run.
