Trump is my favourite comedian of the year already (10 Viewers)

He got lucky with PayPal and has picked companies well and played PR brilliantly to pump his stock. Outside of SpaceX, results are mixed. Tesla is fast losing its lead and seems to be going down a dead end on self driving, X is losing money and members hand over fist, but probably wasn’t bought to make cash TBF, his solar and battery business as being eaten by Chinese imports. His robotics are fairly middle of the road, his mass transit and freight ambitions have come to nothing.

But I don’t think he’s evil. I think he think a lot of himself and is socially awkward. He probably sincerely believes he can make government much more efficient like he has his companies and he is very good at efficiency in his companies.

TBH Musk is the one Trump appointee I’m least concerned about.
I don't know much about him but hasn't he been a massive beneficiary of government subsidies?

My belief:

Those on here attacking Trump or Musk:

“non net contributors”, ie, work in academia, the civil service, NHS etc. Get offended when things outside of their echobuvblrpointed out.

Those with balanced positions:

Open minded, like to study facts, probably work in private sector

(Waits for silly emojis from those who fit into category 1, above).
I work for a private company you balloon

Sorry, not aware of the name. I will have to Google them
He's a tenacious MAGA loyalist, made a lot of enemies in DC in the last 18 months, unlikely he'll get the confirmation he needs from Senate.
Trump knows that and will have an alternative on standby.

MI6 should have taken Musk out when he made his 'civil war is inevitable' tweet. Clearly designed to undermine the new govt and create social instability in the UK. Bit of a diplomatic no-no now he's a US official.

I dare say Farage has Trumps ear advocating harsh trading conditions on the UK too, promising a Reform govt in 4/5 years...
Maybe "take out" is a bit strong, but agree with the distain for his "civil war" rhetoric. I think the UK Government planned to give him a wide berth for a while after that.

Now with a hand in the US Government, I don't think we're going to be able to ignore him as much, well, as much as you can ignore a multibillionaire who owns a social media platform.

5D chess / tinfoil hat prediction?

Trump in, advises Tories / Farage to merge. Farage becomes Shadow Foreign Secretary. Trump refuses to deal with Lammy after his (sorry lefty apologists, you know I’m right) previously low-rent comments and will only deal via Farage.

Would Trump do that? Is it so tinfoil to suggest that USA has a recent history of making it difficult for foreign governments?

Id like to say if it came out Farage was a traitor that would hurt not help his chances of election but we all know that’s not true.

I mean people just vote for him because of vibes and then work backwards to justify it whatever he does.

Christian fundamentalist zealot Mike Huckabee as Israel ambassador went under the radar. Someone who believes there is no Palestine and that Israel conquering it will bring him one step closer to the rapture and meeting Jesus.

This would make a cracking TV series to be fair if we were allowed behind the scenes. Could even rival the first series of Sunderland 'Til I Die

Some, well most, of these appointments are so out there Republican senators are already questioning if he'll be able to get them through a Republican controlled senate.

What could ever go wrong having an anti-vax activist as health secretary?

Worrying on the vaccine side but he’s got other ideas/views I agree with. Trying to rid the US of the filth they’re allowed to pump in their food could be a game changer for the country which has obesity rates of 40% and various other health issues related to what they eat. Also a lot of big pharmas actions are questionable, check out their annual lobbying spend in USA and numerous documentaries on opioids etc…expect them to be lobbying hard against RFK jr. The fact that everyone is focussing on the ‘RFK anti vaxer’ shows they’ve probably already started.

I’ve seen comments that he’s said he won’t stop any vaccines and will just ensure there’s better info around them, if thats correct then fair enough. If he does stuff to reduce their accessibility then that’s a different matter

Edit - just overhead some other JFK stuff on obriens LBC show (I know I’m disgusted with myself for listening 😊- background only)…if true bit nuttier than I was aware

The issue with all of these picks Steve is they’re based on loyalty to Trump, not their ability to do the job.

going to tone down rhetoric until he gets himself confirmed.

Tulsi is an excellent pick. We can of course go through Joes appointments
Not sure about that. Even that well known left wing paper the Mail don't seem too impressed
Concerns have been raised across the globe about Donald Trump selecting Tulsi Gabbard as his Director of National Intelligence.
Along with that other leftie rag the Telegraph
Donald Trump’s choice of Tulsi Gabbard as his intelligence chief is an “alarming” move given her history of support for Russia

First step of Musk's efficiency plan seems to be asking people to work an 80+ hour week for no pay. Sure they will be queuing up for that.
