Like his attitude in the press conference, basically saying he understands he wont be playing 90 minutes a week but whenever he gets on he will do whatever he can for the team!

He's one of the most likeable players we've had. To think I hated him this time last year, although that was the same for our entire forward line really.

He is a class act for league 1. Very professional and it's a credit to the guy. 32-33 now and brilliant at what he does. He isn't a world beater but if he wasn't here another top league 1 would have him.

Never thrown his toys out the pram and his experience and class is huge for this group.

He's a good professional, still think we need someone to push Armstrong, as neither he nor fortune are goalscorers. Yes, people will point out his lack of game time, and I acknowledge that, however if you're 1-0 down with 20 to go, you're not going to look at him and say " I'll throw Tudguy on, there's a goal in him".

I think we should keep him, I just think we are short of options beyond Armstrong when you're looking for goals from your centre forward. Fortune's scored 1 pen in 7-8 games.

We've scored 1 goals in our last 4 games and that was a Richard wood O.g.

As I said in an earlier thread I think he has been under used and some of the youngsters have been overused.
I cannot see how Kent justifies a start should be benched or sent back for me given defence.
I do not mind Fortune but think Tudgay should have come in for him the other game.
Murphy also overused and has been inconsistent but I do see something in him unlike Kent that justifies the
game time. Lameiras is another who can probably feel harshly done to as well.
However that being sent players not getting in start xi seem to be behaving in great fashion so credit
has to go to players and TM for that - I am sure TM is chatting to them all the time unlike SP who
just seemed to freeze players out!!

sent back?

blimey you would think kent has been abysmal

for me hes exciting and very good EXCEPT the final pass or shot, i would keep him around for sure cos once that clciks he will be a huge asset for us

I think he is a prospect and could well become very good in a few years time - just think our squad balance for me is a bit
askew and we have too many attacking midfielders and not enough defenders. Unfortunately football is all about end product in the
end brutal but true and for me Tudguy, Fortune, Maddison, Lameiras, Murphy, Cole and Armstrong all produce more telling end product!
If he continues to start though I hope he does click - if he starts for me v Swindon he absoloutely has to produce something of note
Goals/assists without simply flattering to deceive though talent is there I grant you that.

Kent has only been guilty of not being as good as Armstrong, Murphy or Joe freakin Cole. In a normal City side we'd all be creaming ourselves over his skill.

He's worth keeping around, unless he's stopping us bolster the defence, but I still think you can get away with dropping one loan from the squad each week. And who knows, Joe Cole might sign permanently and solve the problem! :p

Also if TM wants a defender permanently then we don't need to get rid. We have the funds.

he will be drawing his pension in a few years.

as others have said though, credit to himself & the profession. & still has a good finish on him, as well as the other side to his game - such as holding the ball up well, which comes with experience

If we can keep him and can bolster the defence shmeee I agree let's keep him I just think we are a bit top heavy in attacking midfielders/attackers
not out and out strikers and light in defensive cover and holding midfielders. Something I did not think I'd say last season.

It's all about opinions I think a fit Maddison is better and has more end product than Kent, maybe he would not be here anyway if Madders
was fit in the first place though. One thing I do think is that if he starts Swindon should be the perfect game for him to deliver something of
real note such as a key assist or goal as opposed to flashes of skill that although great to see so far ultimately have lead to very little.

Once again he is a talent.....but not sure he should have started as much as he has and not sure if we cannot get another defender due to funds
we should not send him back........I can actually see him doing something good vs Swindon by the way so know these comments could
be thrown back at me Saturday after the game.....I hope they are tbh!

Yes I mean Kent of course and if he starts would love him to shove my comments back at me! I am a fan of Tudgay though
his 1-2 with JOB at Millwall was class and he scored at Burton and played well.....I think his performances have merited more
game time perhaps but it is refreshing to have so many attacking options really!

I think we probably agree, though I'd say you have to remember TM likes lots of AM's, he's said he plays with 4 at times. And I agree that if Madders wasn't injured he wouldn't be here. I'm not so convinced about the need for an out and out striker though. We want that but I don't think TM does. I think he wants Fortune or Tudgay with lots of pace and creativity behind them.

CB is worrying though, looking at the squad shows what a massive hole we have. For me, with no Reda and Harries some way off we need a permanent CB ASAP.

RCC - Burge
Willis - Philips
Ricketts - Harries
Martin - ???
Stokes - Haynes
Vincelot - Morris
Fleck - Thomas
JOB - Kent
Cole - Maddison
Murphy - Lameiras
Armstrong - Fortune - Tudgay

I actually think we are really lucky with our squad at the moment and we have some genuine professionals in there. Not just Tudgay but Fleck, Ricketts, Stokes and, of course, Cole who really impressed me in his interview.

We have a special group of players at the moment.

Kent will come good, just got to persevere with him. If he hadn't had a goal wrongly given offside against Chesterfield on his home debut that could have gave him the confidence and kick start he needs.

I think most teams that are very successful are full of players that understand a role within that group. "Next man up", "do your job" and "i will do whatever the coach tells me to do" often are things i hear in good teams. If they all have one aim with a very clear path from the leadership it is also easy to bring players into that ethic, its this way or the exit door, don't moan, don't complain, work hard and even harder when you get a chance to keep your position.

TM will not always look for the best players as an individual he will look at the best players that buys into his philosophy, like J Cole, any L1 manager would jump at signing him on a hint he was interested in playing.. TM didn't bite kept it quiet, brought him to game days, spoke to him over a decent amount of time before bringing him on a loan, even then its short term to feel each other out. TM and MV are very clear in what they want and what they need to be a side that compete's in this league. Players like Tudgay will be asked to set examples on and off the field and around the media.

Whilst I agree to an extent, I also agree with JW, he's not as good as I thought he would be and for me Lamieres has been really harshly treated, he has a couple of goals and assists and was part of the team that started off like a rocket, and has now been replaced with a lad who has no end product, and we're developing liverpools player for their benefit and not our own. He will probably develop into a decent player, and I would keep him in the squad but he doesn't warrant as starting berth.

I don't think it's a lack of confidence, I think it's a lack of development. It's a a different ball game to U21's and academy football. I believe even G Thomas has 2 assist and he's hardly played.

This is Kents first stint at senior football, that's what he is here for to learn, by xmas you will be hoping Liverpool will let us keep him longer. he has a great future ahead of him, give him a little time it will all fall into place soon, lets enjoy him while he is here.

If you had seen Callum Wilson's first game or so at Sixfields you would have thought he was exciting but had no end product. But he learned and improved ! Not every young prospect does but you have to give them a chance

You mean:
v Bristol 2 goals
v PNE 2 goals 1 assist
V Colchester 2 goals

In the first 3 home games at Sixfields..

Callum was one of our "own" players as is Lameiras who arguably has contributed more than Kent in terms of end product and for both those reasons
people can argue with some justification he should start and Kent should be on the bench as Kent has already been given more of a crack with less
end product produced than say Lameiras, Maddison or Tudguy

Lamieras doesn't have Kent's pace but he has a much better end product whether it's a through ball or a cross. I'd much prefer a player put a ball through to Armstrong to put in the goal than somebody to take on 6 players and kick it out for a goal kick or give it away.

He'd never played senior football before the start of the season, I agree he shouldn't be a guaranteed starter at the moment (not to say he can't play himself into that position) but I'd be happy to keep him for the rest of the season.

I want to see more of him starting tbf. He seemed low in confidence in the first couple of games then he looked quality.

Bit peeved that he's ditched the fancy boots and went for some plain black ones at blackpool though

Fair do's Ceetee. I can see where you're coming from, like I said I wouldn't get rid of him, just don't think he should be first choice. I think he has talent, he's just too raw and I would rather we were developing our own, rather than liverpools player.

Before the season started, TM said in order to push for promotion he wanted three 20-goal a season strikers. At the moment, we have one - but he wont even be here for the entire season.

For the first 3 or 4 games even as a sub he looked like he had a goal in him every game. Had a couple chalked off unfairly by officials.

i think he deserves a bit off a run, even if not for the full 90, has a lot to offer if the system is geared to his strengths.
