I went to last years Aviva final (Saracens v Exeter) and I support neither but cheered for Exeter on the day. Went to this years as a Wasps fan (before the usual people start swearing at me I have been a wasps fan since before their arrival in Coventry), on our walk in to the ground we had a good chat with a Saracens fan (who said he would be supporting Wasps for the day), we even had a good chat about football as he was also a spurs fan, obviously that turned to our fa cup final days and what the hell happened to City since. Parted on great terms and he wished us well for the day, once I was in the ground I saw the obvious mix of wasps and Exeter shirts around the place but also saw Leicester, Bath, Northampton and Saracens people in the mix....I suppose its just a great day to mix with sports fans in general. My family had a great day despite the result going against us, as a neutral it must have been a good one to watch, no cards, only one tmo that I can recall and extra time.
Best sight of the day for me.....as I was going in to the ground just after going through security, saw a 30 something year old dad wearing a ccfc polo shirt, he was carrying a 4-5 year old child with a wasps shirt on.
I have been a ccfc fan since 84, also look out for Wolves, Leamington, man city, new York city and Man utd scores as all of these teams have touched my family life at some point, Rugby wise its Wasps foremost as one of my kids is in the DPP too, also look out for Coventry, Solihull and Old Leams as again we have had connections with all at some point. I think only a few have embraced all the sports on offer locally to them but the majority seem to fix to one sport and one team and just berate anyone who does not agree with them. Wasps did not cause ccfc problems of late so I feel the hate towards them is definitely going in the wrong direction but all of this has been debated way too much on this forum before.
Hopefully city get new owners soon and we can all start working to a positive outcome, mind you I have watched this debacle over the last few years and learnt all too well not to get my hopes up. Right now it all looks good with the possibility of ownership changing, Robins tying up players contracts and new signings (not loans) but I live with a pessimistic view that we will all be pissed off again after several games of the season....hope I am very wrong.
