Deserved - decent performance.
Just imagine if we'd have had Kalvin Phillips!.....

No I think actually we go into this final as slight underdogs tbh .

I actually think Southgate should be very proud of how he set us up tonight first half , and his subs won us the game in the end .. he struggled to counter the Dutch changes second half mostly although they never really looked like scoring

He beat a world top 10 team in a semi final
Yeah, all very valid points.

I do think the subs should have been made much earlier, but other than that, he got pretty much everything right tonight.

I think bringing Shaw on at half time made a hell of a lot of a difference too

I know it is not over till that fat lady sings, but tourament football is getting through and we are improving as it goes on .
Think there are people on here who should look back at their posts on early pages and eat humble pie

I think I've explained how i feel perfectly tbh .

I think tonight was southgates best win as England manager
I think he set us up well and first half we played the best football of the tournament , we limited the Dutch to very little overall and the subs worked .

I've not enjoyed much of his tenure , but tonight I think he deserves the praise .

If he wins the tournament I will respect the job he's done .. but my opinion won't change on the rest

Southgate’s teams can be boring, pedestrian and safety first but football is ultimately a results game and he has delivered results in the tournaments. Cant argue with his record.

An actually pretty decent performance tonight, albeit the Netherlands looked really poor. Never a penalty, but a fantastic touch and finish by Watkins for the winner.

Best team won on the day, I thought, and onto the final. Go again Sunday. COME ON ENGLAND!

The Netherlands were made to look poor by a very good England team. We're gonna score one more than Spain . COME ON ENGLAND

It's easy to nitpick but tbf International football is weird as fuck. You have to remember he doesn't have the time with the players to set up these incredible tactical masterpieces.

Before this tournament I think most of the criticism was largely unfounded but there were still problems.

During this tournament I had no idea what his plan was & was concerned about most of his team selection & tactics, but he's found a way.

Tonight we were brilliant in the first half & he made positive changes when needed.

Generally, I think Southgate has performed miracles in his time with the squad camaraderie etc. but needs more help tactically.

Please can someone explain to me why they'd want Southgate to leave the job if we win the tournament. Genuinely interested.

If we win he'll get an offer I'm sure. Does feel a bit like he's pissed off and tired so wouldn't be surprised if he went either way.

Have questioned some of timidness this tournament but it has got us to the Final. Thought we were good tonight, bar the early mistake and a few set plays we controlled the match fully

We made them look poor because we dealt with them. Job done, Berlin here we come.

All you whiners can shut up about Southgate now. Case closed, goodnight x

Such very fine margins isn't it. We were 86 seconds away from going out of the competition completely. Had that happened, that would have been humiliating and there would have been much gnashing of teeth and wailing and finger pointing at the manager, but now here we are, in a final.

We can't pretend it's been some kind of master plan to be scoring goals right at the death.

Not trying to take anything away from the achievement last night, however. Southgate still made mistakes and the subs should have been made earlier, because we were on the back foot and the Dutch looked more threatening, but we got it right in the end.

I thought Trippier was a worry in that first half too. His positioning at times was all over the place.

Very positive move from GS though to bring Shaw on at half time, so hat's off to him for that and praise too for the subs. Just wish it had been a bit earlier.

We played so much better last night, which was so nice to see and to see Foden play with freedom.

Fair bit of luck helps too. We wouldn't have complained too much had that penalty not been given and the Dutch did have a very valid point just before the winning goal, because Guehl seemed to just lose his balance and fall over and the Dutch player would have been clean through and bearing down on goal had play been allowed to continue. Luckily, we got the free kick

As I say, the margins between success and failure can be minute.

But well done to Southgate for last night. He does deserve a lot of praise for that performance and setup

I don't mind if we lose on Sunday as long as we play like that. Just don't want us to go into a shell and be too cautious again and get beaten quite easily without laying a glove.

We're in the final. Let's enjoy it and Southgate does seem such a lovely bloke, so I would like us to win it for him, because what a great legacy that would be for him and he'd be a hero wherever he went in life after.

Now I just have to hope they are showing the game on the ship I am on, on Sunday, because I am going to be on a cruise to the Norwegian fjords when it kicks off. 🤞

Only England manager to reach the European Championships final.
Only England manager to reach a major final overseas.
Only England manager to reach consecutive European Championships finals.
One of only three England managers to reach a world cup semi final.
Even his 'failure' was a quarter final, which many England managers could only dream of.

His tournament record puts him right up there.

As a proud Paddy, I love everything Irish, but I wore an England T-shirt last night while watching the game. Went nuts when Watkins scored! Well done lads! You had my heart last night and I'll be watching on Sunday, although I feel that Spain will be a massive test. 🇮🇪 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🇮🇪 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🇮🇪 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
