If we draw 1-1 playing like this and Southgate says 'it's about qualifying through the group that's important' or blames it on the pitch. This is sh*te for the players we have.

I’ve always stuck up for Southgate but the level of performance at this tournament has been staggeringly bad.

Some piss poor performances from some of our players that half.
TAA, Foden, Saka - all shite. Kane scored but is now playing as a defender. Like others have said, as soon as we scored the instruction is clearly to sit back.

TAA off, Bellingham deeper with Rice
Get Eze on left wing, Foden in the 10.
Get Kane off, and Watkins or Toney on.
You can only play high press if ALL of your players do it, you CANNOT play high press carrying one player who doesn't.
Disappointed with Bellingham, he's been poor. Fodens has been the pick or the front 4 and he's been average

Bellingham might be good at 10 in la liga where real madrid are miles ahead of everybody and he has the time and space to dictate etc ..
But for England where we need a proper box to box next to rice he should play 8 and we should play foden 10 and bring Gordon in left side .

The issue is TAA is not a midfielder, needs Wharton or Gallagher there.

TAA just move or think like a midfielder. It's a world of difference playing as a rb that stands in there sometimes to having to be a full time midfielder

That average position chart for England says it all, barely into their half before we scored and all 11 players in our own half after, it's all on Southgate and his tactics
