So if both games end in a draw in group E and either Czechia or Georgia win we play 3rd in E?

This stuff fries my brain. Just expand the tournament to 32 teams FFS,ight as well, gives 8 shit nations a go and avoids this 3rd place bollocks

I think so. Have to keep referring back to the screen shot 😂…I’m a simple man and this is confusing

None of the top teams are doing well apart from Germany and maybe Portugal.

I think it’s the groups allowing third place teams through. None of them are putting top effort in cos they know they can bimble through on minimum effort.

Hopefully that’s what England have done and will turn it on in knockouts. Doesn’t look like it though.

Southgate master plan to lull teams into a false sense of security

I honestly think it’s ruining the group stages at the Euros. To reflect on last nights game, but this applies elsewhere too, Slovenia were happy for a draw even if they finished 3rd place.

In this round of games, Romania and Slovakia both know they’re through irrespective of that happens in the other game.

Ironically, Belgium’s coach is highly regarded and they’re likely to finish second in the only group ranked lower than ours.

They need to go back to 4 groups( tough competition ) , or it has to be 8 (weaker competition )..

Can't have 3rd placed failures going through it's stupid

I agree. Get rid of the 3rd placed teams nonsense. Top two go through again. Will make teams stop playing chess and actually play attacking football trying to win games

Think it's been a competition without much quality at all this year ... really is a poor tournament compared to years ago

Realistically, UEFA will only expand it and I’m not against that, but let’s reduce the qualification process because I agree the competition would be weaker.

It’s fundamentally unfair, for example, that the teams in the later groups know exactly what they need to progress so it becomes like a chess match and not in a good way.

It really irritates me that all the weaker teams are happy to have 20-30% possession to force draws. Compare to the World Cup where we battered Wales because they needed a result against us.

So it seems to me we will play the Netherlands unless Czechia beat Portugal by 2 and Turkey win.

To be honest I’d rather we play the Netherlands as opposed to Slovakia at this point. We need a proper test to see whether we’ll sink or swim. Play Slovakia and we’ll probably just scab our way past them playing like we have done and then get whacked by Italy or the Swiss in the quarters.

I think it’s only fair to judge when the tournaments over. The set up has encouraged a pretty flat third round of games. Having said that I thought the first round of games was better than usual, when everyones usually just trying not to be beaten

The real tournament begins at the knock outs
