Is it me, or is the picture from this game a bit off? Dunno if it's just my sky box but it looks a bit stuttery.

Oh yeah 16 if for sure the best format but we all know UEFA aren't gonna take the hit money wise and return to that.

24 is just an odd number. Doesn't even save the players match time over 32. Might save a few days in tournament length but they could easily just have 4 games a day on some group stage rounds and fit them in.

8 groups 2 through is just way neater, provides a bit of jeopardy for the groups and would give an opportunity for 8 more minnows to taste tournament football.
32 would make the group stages largely irrelevant in a euros I think. France, Belgium, England, Germany, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal would be very unlikely to end up in the same group. You'd end up with a group stage that's only marginally better than the qualifiers.
24 is not much better. Should revert back to 16.
The World Cup is going to suffer similarly I think with the 48 team format.... wouldn't be surprised if we see a couple of 10-0s in the groups in 2026.

i agree.
and i think it's better when a couple of the bigger teams don't make it out of the group stage.

You've got to love tournament football! It's the 20twenty of the beautiful game.
Which is a bit of a contradictive statement from me because as much as I love cricket, 20twenty is the format I least like.

It could be the twenty pints of Limoncello I've had, but I really like the way this Italian team are playing. There's a sort of swagger and belief that makes you feel like they could do something exciting at any point.

I watched that Broja? (Albanian no 9>) during the first half and he was absolutely awful at putting any meaningful pressure on The Italian defenders - really, really lazy stuff from him. Once I had first noticed his lack of effort I started watching him when Italy had it at the back. Rarely seen an international player put in such half hearted effort.

Edit: think it must have been No 11 (Broja), Asani is No 9 (may be a saddo and check back which of the two it was!)

Definitely Broja !!
