That’s such a nonsense and you know it. You make these arguments because you think it suits your narrative around Southgate.

It doesn’t and really highlights just how much of a better tournament team we are under Southgate compared to others.

If you remember 2002, we went 1-0 and lost to 10 men - I don’t see you criticising the tactics there. Or in 2004 when we bottled a 1-0 lead in stoppage time v France…

Sven, Capello and even Hodgson were ‘top’ managers and failed miserably. This argument that it would magically be different this era is deeply flawed.

Southgate cut his teeth as a technical director and as an England age-group manager which has laid the foundations for us to be producing world class players better suited to major tournaments. He isn’t a Pep or a Klopp but there’s a reason there are v few top managers at international football. It’s a different ball game!
This is true - I had never even heard of Spain's manager before the tournament started

I sort of got a Kane vibe watching that

Yeah, see what you mean. Kane looks unfit and isolated, but has stepped up and chipped in. Ronaldo looks isolated and disinterested though. There were parts of yesterday’s game that he resembled a Coventry City Yakubu.

I’d be seething if I was Diogo Jota. He’s done, there’s a reason he plays in Saudi - it’s not just the money.

Not sure that's the only reason he's playing in Saudi . However , I don't think you can play in that league and suddenly be good enough for the euros . The gulf is massive...no pun intended

Fully expect an England win 🏆
Weirdly, I am fully expecting a defeat.

Haven't beaten us since 1981, so that has to give at some point and they do look a good side this time out, while at the same time, we have been very poor.

Really, truly hope I am wrong, but 1-2.

Late goal back for us.

No room for that kind of talk Otis. I’m fully expecting Kane to fall over in more dangerous places and the sideways-backwards attacks to induce a trance like state in the Swiss allowing our boys an easy way through. Unfortunately it probably means I’ll sleep through it too.

Confirmed Trippier at RWB then. Thats disappointing.
It amazes me tbh , trent plays first 11 in on of the most exciting Liverpool sides in the world over the last 6 or 7 years , only for everybody to continually say he's not good enough .. he's a better footballer than trippier and gives us the added ability of good deliveries in the box

I guess klopp was wrong all along

Not sure why (might be the Efes) but I’m more confident about this game than all the others.

This system at least utilises our best players in their natural positions.

I look at the players in the lineup and I’m not convinced we will play 343. I reckon that was the plan but Trippier’s made it so we go back to 4231.

Shearer is so much better than Dixon, who is an absolute bell.

He also also looks/acts/speaks like he’s been in the CBS Arena toilets pre game.

Foden told the female interviewer it was a back 3
