Unsung Hero so far this season (1 Viewer)

Ok, change of direction from all the negative posts on this forum and have a bit of positivity in here!!

We all know how great Wilson & Clarke have been this season and seem to be getting all the plaudits but as we know it is all a team game.
Who has impressed you all most this season under the radar?

I have two that I feel have really shone:

1) Jordan Clarke - Never really rated him that highly as a RB but thought it was a bit harsh putting him in the bomb squad as felt he had something to offer the team. Has really taken his chance and made the CB position his own. Gets in front of the other man well and his general reading of the game has been brilliant. he also seems to win headers that he has no right to! Tuesday he was MOM for me and seems to be forming a good partnership with Webster.

2) Connor Thomas - He has been absolutely fantastic (gone a bit Gary Barlow there) in CM. Breaks the play up and plays the right ball 9/10 times. If he loses the ball he doesn't seem to let his head drop and battles to win the ball back. I always seem find myself comparing him to a young Michael Carrick.

Who do you think?

From the two games that I saw (Shrewsbury and Wolves), I had Thomas as my MoM on both occasions.

I was a bit dubious about Clarke in the Shrewsbury game but thought that he was much better against Wolves and that he really seemed to have settled into the role.

Having seen little more than goals this season, Clarke seemed to make errors for a few earlier on. No idea if he's rectified that but the praise suggests so. I was expecting him to slot into right-back with Christie out and have Willis come into the middle.

I think the players mentioned so far have all been great, but not 'unsung' as such.

I think Murphy deserves a lot of praise. Not just because he's made crucial saves when needed, but his whole attitude seems spot-on.

As an example, a few minutes into the Wolves game Willis slightly misjudged a header back to him and he had to be quick off his line to get there before Griffiths. Instead of screaming at him, he just laughed and took the piss a bit. He's trying hard to create an atmosphere where the younger players are comfortable and confident enough to try things without fear of making mistakes.

i would also add Moussa into that pot, he gives us an attacking edge we have been missing for so long. The amount of goals we have scored a 6fields where he has been involved in the play.

I think this thread actually shows how much of a 'team' we do have, they are playing as a collective rather than key individuals. I just pray to god that we dont get injuries!!

I wouldn't really say we have any unsung heros, every player seems to be getting the praise they deserve. I would add that I think Moussa is technically one of the best players in our league, and maybe doesn't get the credit that players such as Nahki Wells seem to get.

The manager, his support staff, and every player that has been on the pitch and all the fans that go to support them, home or away. Given the pre season expectation and the shit going on in the background, were thinking promotion not relegation the next game cant come quick enough, for the onfield antics everyone is buzzing.

Big pat on the back to the lot of them!

I started the thread bellend!!

I was referring to your post not your thread. I was well aware who started it and I willingly contributed to it....just thought your update was inappropriate as people are still posting.

No Hobo, your missing the point totally.... I started this because I want to discuss what was going on the pitch e.t.c and not the SISU out bullshit so was curious how long it would take before it got hijacked.... 5 posts!!

I know why you posted the thread and I think people are giving opinions on players. Yes other people will introduce other things....but I think the thread is keeping its focus. I think the away support has been tremendous regardless of why.

My beliefs on other matters I save for appropriate threads. I just thought your comment came a bit too soon that is all. But I respect you have tried to get a pitch thread going.

OK cool.

And regarding John Fleck... Blokes a legend![/QUOTE

Shame we all get so prickly on here when we are all sky blue.

I will stick my neck out now, I know he lacks pace, but given more matches and a greater understanding with his colleagues...Webster might be a hero come the end of the season.

Someone on here said at times he looks dodgy but god help us without him. I concur.

He is the organiser at the back and teaching the others to talk.

Webster has been getting stronger with every game IMO.. i think his main issue was lack of game time when we got him in and now he has caught up he is getting stronger and stronger.

the whole defensive unit looks to be improving rapidly... Adams on tuesday took their right mid out of the game and he was a dangerous lookin player..

Kind of agree, he is a calm head at the back and seems to work well with Murphy. Certainly no Rio Ferdinand but is a strong precence at the back.

none of this matters

after wolves there were fans saying "moussa was hit, maybe we should drop him" blah blah, and then he pops up and scores a screamer vs orient

we need to stand by players even if they have a poor game.

Funny this is asked because on Tuesday while I was looking at the dugouts I just thought what a bloody fantastic job the coaching staff are doing.

I think they probably work as hard as anyone and you can see by their reactions they want it and it means a lot to them.

My vote goes to Neil McFarlane and the rest.

Only one person for me. It has to be Waggott. He managed to bring in MR. He did a decent job turning our fortunes around. Then he managed to sell our manager and not sack him which is unusual for our club and then get what it seems like an even better manager. It also looks like he helps to decide what players come and go. We are no longer selling our players for less than their worth. We have greatly improved on the pitch since he arrived.
