I'm concerned that our poor form is being excused as down to being handicapped to a certain degree (missing home games, losing O'Hare, Hamer's stupidity). The notion that all will come good when Cal is back and we get to play those games in hand is a worry. Sure we may create a few more chance and maybe put them away, but the defence has looked shocking. They have improved recently but you could also put the clean sheets down to poor finishing by the other team. Yes I know thats swings and roundabouts but how often do we make those chances, let alone put them away. I would want Vic to pass the ball more ... sod's law he did yesterday and we might have got a point at the death if he'd been a bit more selfish.

We’re 6 points off safety with one win in ten - if you don’t think our games in hand, which are against our relegation rivals, are must win then you’re majorly deluded.

Must win is needing to win near the end of the season.

Absolutely no game is even remotely close to 'Must win' with 36 games of the season left.

We could lose our games in hand and still stay up. We could win them and go down.

So it's only important when we're facing down the barrel?

It's must win to set the precident.
To make sure the fans don't get on our backs.
To make sure causals bother to walk up.
To make sure they spend their Xmas money on CCFC gifts.
To make sure we don't go into January god knows how many points adrift and our better players think fuck this, yeah cash me in Dave I don't wanna play in L1.

It's not must win.

It's very important to win them.

But how can it possibly be must win when there are 108 points to play for?

They quite literally, by definition, are not must win.

That’s strange, not many were predicting relegation before the season started?

Not many are predicting it now. And no one was predicting we’d have the transfer window end and season start off the pitch we did.

most people seem very ok with the team and no one seems overly concerned at 1 win in 10

Many reasons cited and no concern at all about potential relegation

Am I the only one to be somewhat concerned?
Yes I'm worried. It's had a bad feel about it since pre-season really, and it's not got better. The recruitment had me thinking of Mowbray's last season, and the start is similar. We weren't *terrible* at the start of that season but couldn't buy a win, and this season we can point to the what-ifs but... the form is poor, no denying it.

That said, Mowbray's finale shows why changing the manager isn't necessaily the answer. That said, if I were Robins I'd be considering whether it was worth my while jumping while my reputation was intact.

I think the games in hand issue has, to an ever decreasing level of relevance, played a part in this .
At 5 games in we could bleat on about having games in hand, the fact that the team was being interrupted in it's development blah blah.
That's gone. One win in ten, irrespective of games in hand is unacceptable. There is nothing to suggest any of those games in hand will reap three points and , already, draws are not enough.
We are in a relegation fight.

also likely that we have no depth in reserve with the matches crushed into the schedule so fitness will be a further issue - we have already lost a lot of cash flow with those Saturday games in the sun going to bad dog Tuesdays . While we are waiting for O Hare Kelly and Hamer they will need time ( matches) to get match fitness sadly

I agree with all of that apart from Kelly coming back being of any use, don't see him really contributing at this level.

If anyone on here can be bothered to do the stats, it would be interesting to see the win % with and without Kelly last season. Not an exciting or hugely eye-catching player, but does he influence games nevertheless?

Of course, even if he returns his fitness is going to be questionable.

How is Kelly supposed to get in the side when we have by far the best midfield in the league?

He started 9 games, we won once, drew 5 and lost 3. Whatever our problem is at the moment, the answer is not Liam Kelly.

Thanks for looking that up. Maybe we’d be a better side if we could swop Kelly’s head onto Hamer’s body?
(And sneakily put the guy with Hamer’s head and Kelly’s body on the market for £5m).

Still concerned ?

Will come back to this thread in a couple of weeks. Once we are out of the bottom 3. With still games in hand to play.

I am

A great win yesterday of course

But we're still bottom of the league. Still missing gilt edged chances, still getting the rub of the green at the back

It looks brighter yes, but until we've at least got more points than games played/ out the bottom 3 as that weighs on teams mentally, i wont be relaxing

We are bottom cos we have played THREE less games than most teams ffs

We're not doing too bad considering injuries and suspensions tbf.

Are we as good as last year? Not yet that's for sure but we won't go down imo

And I've been saying this before yesterday's win

First 8 away games last 3 seasons.

20/21 W 0, D 3, L 5 F 6 A 13 and 3 points
21/21 W2, D 2, L 4, F 6 A 13 and 8 points
21/22 W1, D 4 , L 3 F 8 ,A12 and 7 points

Surprisingly we scoring more goals and a better defence. No where as bad as many have suggested.

NEXT 17 GAMES
5 AWAY and 12 AT HOME. This is ridiculous.

We will be more than fine.

Still backing us easily for top half finish.

As I keep on saying since before Middlesboro game we will average 1.5 PPG going forward.

We’re bottom on merit. You can blame the missed games all you want, but 10 from 11 is very poor. Our performances this season have mostly been well below par. We’re still well in the woods.

Jesus. We played 8 away.
We are 17th on away form this season.

So clearly any fool can see as I keep on saying we are in false position. Certainly dont deserve to be bottom.

On merit I'd say we are just about 18th/20th position factor in 3 home games in hand.

Our home form is abysmal though

We could go on to have an alright season. But “any fool” can see we haven’t been good enough to be winning games this season, hence being bottom.

You would always rather have points on the board than games in hand. 21st would be fantastic and anything above that a bonus. Which is a pity with sides like Luton in the play off hunt who bothered to financially support their manager on half our crowds

Depth of quality in the squad would be our downfall if we have further injuries or long term ones like O’Hare’s or a run of suspensions to our defenders.
Not worried but I do think it’s small margins that can change what was last seasons last minute winners into this seasons nervousness with just a few injuries and different loan signings

Nah what? Are you denying we’ve not offered enough to be higher in the table SO FAR?
Seen more than enough in every game bar Norwich to suggest mid table at the very least. Just need to stop the Howlers ALA Moore at HULL and MILLWALL.

Stopped the bowlers and we are doing well since. In fact the defensive stats are pretty incredible 1 goal conceded 5 games. Is unheard of.
