Fantastic passer, and a hell of a shot. I don't think he can play at DM in a 4-2-1-3 formation however (nor can Allen) unless deployed at AM.

He’s the best passer at the club and has a great strike on him. For all their qualities Sheaf and Eccles don’t score a lot of goals. I could see Torp chipping in with a few next year.

Convinced part of the reason he was brought in was to stop teams going into a low block against us. If you’ve got someone with the long range shooting capability he clearly has then it’ll drag defenders out.

He will benifit massively if we stick with this 433 we’ve played so far in pre season

Agreed but in terms of roles he's likely to be competing with sheaf, which will limit minutes.

Would expect first choice to be (currently):
Eccles
Sheaf Rudoni

He should be first drop off the bench replacing all 3 and moving into Sheafs role and Sheaf moves back towards the end of games.

Omg, who the fuck, is saying he's the boo boy? I'm saying I can't see him getting ahead of Sheaf, Eccles or Rudoni.
Wtf don't you understand about that.

Jeez ffs!!!

I tell you what, let's just all agree he's nailed on to be the next Ballon D'or winner just to keep you happy.
He's better technically than Eccles. I think he could make that spot his own

Yeh but doesn’t it piss you off how he doesn’t smile which must mean there’s a rift in the camp and he doesn’t fit in. Maybe, and I’m not just making up bollocks here, but maybe he misses home and he’s had an argument with robins and his days are numbered?

That's got to be his aim, although I think Eccles was more athletic and defensively aware than Torp was last season, but that could all change of course with a full pre season under his belt.

We could even potentially see Rudoni take Eccles's spot in a box to box role and EMC (or Palmer) used as an AM.
Either way it's good to have some quality options and depth in midfield for a change.

Makes for an exciting season ahead.

Torp is a very very good technical player and is probably the strongest progressive passer we have.

I actually think he’s almost a surprise package for us this year. He’s been here since Jan and the new player shine has worn off, so he’s faded into the background.

After a few good games which will have given him confidence, a few bad games which he’ll have learnt from and a decent pre season (hopefully), I really think he’ll be an asset.

We have a real variety of players in that CM role which is great for adapting for different opponents / in game.

It will be interesting? He runs intelligently with the ball and protects it well. He is good on the ball in tight spaces. His passing is good without being spectacular.

Weaknesses are he seems a bit weak in the physical challenge. Sometimes not tactically aware. But the big one for me is he lacks pace.

But it is early days and this season will show what type and level of player we actually have?

Found it interesting in the Robins interview that he said no one likes Torp and he doesn't smile enough and he was really pissed off that he got himself injured
I'm sure Robins is delighted with Torp's 1 assist and no goals in 15 Championship games.
Not to mention his 3 significant injuries in 6 months.

I'm just after a bit of balance really. Some are acting like he's proven quality, a great passer with a great shot.
He's had 1 assist and no goals in 15 Championship games. Has seemed off the pace or slow in many of those and been injured a lot.
Hopefully, there's something there but at the minute he's been a bit disappointing and not done enough to be in the starting 11.
I think he's one of those players, like Sheaf, who carries themselves well with a bit of elegance. Some get a bit carried away with that 'image'. You have to deliver.

Bare in mind he had just played a full season when he joined us though. I dont think many players could play nearly 1 and a half seasons with no break without showing signs of fatigue

judging a centre midfielder on goals and assists is silly

He's not been available to play for much of his time here due to injury.
I'd call that significant for a football player.

But they aren't significant injuries... Which is what you called them. It's a lot of time off. There is a distinct difference

Debating the guy who scored the winning goal at Wembley!

I hope his pinnacle with us, isn't a goal that wasn't?

Lots of potential but hasn't delivered yet. Big season a head for Torp.

Times his arrival into the box well and is so clean with the finish. Really hoping he can stay niggle free and for me he'll still feel like a new signing.
I feel really confident in his finishing ability too. Before we go overboard with his niggles (noting what saddlebrains and others have said) he did play 45 games last season (Sarpsborg + CCFC). Okay the seasons don't quite line up so that is April to May but it looks like he played 30 games out of 30 in the Eliteserien?
