We need to stop with this shite, we didn’t win.
Its not shit we did win but just weren't allowed to be in FA Cup final.

Apart from still a few seconds to play after goal, we did win. No way City would have let a goal in after that with the prize at stake.

For commercial reasons , a way was found to disallow the goal and stop us playing in final.

A referee analysed goal straight away and concluded part of a Man Utd boot was rubbed out and the angle of the lines changed to make it look offside. The angle of advertising board subsequently was unnatural .

I was told this a few weeks later at appointment. The guy saw my City shorts and shouted "Robbed!!" and told me what he had found. He has nothing to do with Coventry and independent. VAR is used to manipulate decisions.

It is heartbreaking, I know we won that day. Unbelievably came from 3 nil down to win 4-3 against one of the biggest clubs in world.

I'm sure Robins is delighted with Torp's 1 assist and no goals in 15 Championship games.
Not to mention his 3 significant injuries in 6 months.

He set up both goals at Plymouth, but didnt get the assists, because Simms first shot came back off the keeper, and the equaliser was an OG, but it was his pass/free kick that created the chances in the first place

And scored in the FA Cup and a disallowed wembley winner

Was that the one with the amazing curled pass on the half way line?

Anyone else expecting big things this season?

Hes given us glimpses of real quality, and with a couple of months rest and a full pre season behind him I think we will have a real player

Fair to judge him around November time would you say?
On Saturdays evidence he’s still the same player he was last season- technical ability in flashes but far too slow at times and has little presence in midfield. Improvement required.

That was just a 63 min appearance though, in the very first game of the season

Of course you don't write the guy off, it is only one game, and I think technically he is one of the more gifted players we have. I think he can score quite a few from us as well, which is what we could certainly do with from our midfield.

Regardless of that, my concerns are that he's too soft and gets bullied if it gets physical in the midfield area. I started noticing him shitting out of tackles at the back end of last season, and on Saturday he seemed to dissappear when we were getting overrun. That's something that needs to get sorted if he's going to play regularly. He's probably a better bet further up to be honest, but let's see.

He needs a rocket up his arse and to show he wants to be here to be frank.

He has the ability which makes me hold out hope he can turn it around and be a player for us. He looked yards off the pace saturday.

Well, the forum’s annual tradition of overreacting is under way, again. We’ve made tactical tweaks and have players adapting to that, new teammates or even the league itself.

10 games is a useful barometer and even then it’s clear that Robins sets the team up to peak later in the season. It’s obviously not desirable starting slowly but I’d rather than a quick start and fizzle out by Xmas like PNE.

We need to start quicker - the start to the last 2 seasons has pretty much cost us. Both times we were keeping up with the top 2.

we need to be at around 20 points after the 10 game mark.

Am I right in saying, that's the first time Torp and Allen have been partnered together?

I do think that had a major bearing on things. Neither are great tacklers or ball winners and both seemed a little lost at times on Saturday.

Fully agree for once. Alongside Allen, we had no control or command of the midfield, forwards or backwards and we looked overrun. We got the worst of both worlds, no defensive bravery or power and no energy or enthusiasm to go forward.

Our midfield was totally cut off from the attack, taking Sakamoto, Simms and Mason-Clarke totally out of the game.

You want your centre midfielders to put their body on the line defending or drag the game up the pitch - live and die by the sword. Torp has no live and die by the sword in him, he succumbs to a butter knife, doing a piece of toast.

Yes, not writing him off but I had hoped a full preseason with us might have addressed some of his weaknesses.
Torp didn't contribute much on Saturday, but as I've pointed out elsewhere he didn't have 'a full preseason' because he was out injured for a lot of it.

I can take players trying things that don't come off, Torp tried nothing at all. He seemed to avoid the ball. It's mental that Allen bore the brunt of the criticism on here despite being the player to show for the ball from the centre backs. If Torp doesn't fancy doing that he is plainly not up to it.
I agree, Allen wasn't great but as you say he never hid and he wasn't anywhere near as poor as has been made out.

I starting to think he is either just not gonna work out or is being played too deep. Looks too passive to play 6/8, games constantly pass him by. Could he play 10 and be freed up? I think he'd score goals there...

Some pretty stinging criticism already for someone only here half a season.
People never learn. We had one below par performance and all of a sudden it’s a shit team full of shit players.

Torp’s only really getting started now with the amount of games he missed last season. Give him at least 10-15 games before writing him off!

A good number of these types of things were also written about Sheaf in his first season. While some suggestion that the manager’s instructions are contributing might be taboo on here, they can’t be ignored either.

We do not often play to our players’ strengths and on the occasions we do the system is quickly tinkered with. Saturday was that in a 90 minute nutshell.

I like him. I didn't see Saturdays game of course but I think he's a very classy player. Again, up to the manager to get the best from him.

He was bad on Saturday, but almost everyone else was too. Something pretty strange went into that performance.

Personally I'm happy with any of these 4 making up the midfield Torp Sheaf Eccles Rudoni. For me Palmer and Allen are the weak links.

Same, I think Torp will come good in the end, he hasn’t had a solid run of games really and remember it took Simms and Haji almost half a season to get going properly.

I think Torp will be much better than Allen in time, I think Allen’s past his peak tbh. For teams finishing in the top half, would he get in their starting 11? I highly doubt it, and even more worryingly we’re playing him because we’re out of options, and that’s a massive concern if we’re going for promotion.

He clearly has ability, just possibly lacking on the physical side of the game.

He's a good player though and will play an important role this season. Him and Allen in a two was just never going to work though.

He'd be much better alongside Sheaf or Eccles.
