I’m sorry to see how his career has taken a downwards turn.

I always thought League 1 was about his level.
Afraid it appears it's to the inackers yard for him after some nether year's, maybe the personal approach to tailored demands came to late for him?

Always find it bizarre how him and Rose both had the same hip injury at the same time. The management of both through their rehab appeared to be very poor. Both were rushed back too soon on multiple occasions and broke down. Looks like it effectively has ended Dabo's career.

Him and Tavares were the only subs warming up the last 20 mins, I don't remember seeing Bassette or any of the others on the line. I'd of bought them both on

Torp had a decent game on his last start (Watford, probably one of our best performances this season). Since then he’s been almost completely frozen out. Didn’t get a look in on Saturday despite both holding midfielders being booked. Can anyone explain?

Because Sheaf came back in and Torp is nowhere near Sheafs level. In fairness we were having our best spell of the game in the last 20 minutes and looked like the most likely to score the winner.

A lot of fans have just reacted to the fact we conceded late. But Eccles and Sheaf were playing well despite being on yellows and were a big part of our momentum going forward.

And that may have come from Torp entering the Field at that stage and actually taking the shot that presented itself to both of our central midfielders, takes bravery to take a shot just like the one he scored at their place?

Most of the comments haven’t been about the late goal but the overall performance and being outplayed by an average but well coached side.

If Robins had put Torp on and we still ended up losing no doubt the incontinent society would have been aiming it Torps way....BUT it would have been nice to have tried !

Couldn’t really care less about the late goal, bigger worry is that we deserved to lose the game overall. We only performed well for 30 mins of the second half.

Obviously Torp’s not at Sheafs level but sheaf is clearly not fully fit. Just seems odd how little minutes he’s getting.

I don't understand this argument. Torp isn't remotely similar to Sheaf in any aspect.
We've been playing him deep in a Sheaf role out of necessity, that's not where his strengths are at all.

Play him further up where Rudoni plays and we'll see the best of him. He's got a lovely eye for a pass and a great delivery.
He's not the rock in the middle that is fighting tooth and nail for the ball. He's the one who receives the ball from that type and then provides an out ball for the attackers.

30 mins is a tad over generous. It was last 10-15 if that.

Adi Viveash thought he was between a 6 and an 8 not a 10.

No way is he a 10. Not enough pace for an 8 to get up and down. Not strong enough in the tackle to sit deep.

Yes he can pick a pass has a decent shot. But his weaknesses counter act the strengths rather than make up for them. His corners and set pieces have been nothing special. Nowhere near Rudoni:s delivery.

Rudoni isn't exactly a 10 himself really. Plays somewhere in between an 8 and a 10.

Not saying Torp is an out and out 10 but his strengths are much more suited to being higher up the pitch in front of the holding mids.

He wouldn't be one that drops deep to grab the ball like Rudoni, but someone that sort of floats in between the midfield and the attack.

In terms of delivery, I do genuinely think he's up there with Rudoni. You could argue that Rudoni is more consistent, but Torp has played passes that no other player on the pitch has seen or would try. Some lovely floated balls around the defence towards the back post that we never seem to play for some reason.
I also think his diagonal balls and weight of pass are quality.

edit: just seen you were talking about set pieces when it comes to delivery, so disregard the last bit. I would agree Rudoni has the better set piece delivery.

Complete fiction and conjecture.

He has had game time this year with Sheaf out and just hasn't kicked on, despite a full pre seasons training.

He is sadly lacking. It is up to him to turn it around. I honestly prefer Allen. Yes he has weaknesses but at least he brings energy. Off the bench Allen is is a much better option than Tortoise Torp.

I agree, I think he is an 8

Part of me wonders if he could play behind a two of Eccles/Jack and Sheaf and play as a deep lying playmaker allowing him to dictate more tempo on a pitch while playing to his strengths regarding pace and passing.

Call me old fashioned but I want a hell of a lot more out of a central midfielder than that.

Thinking on this a bit more, wonder if he could be deployed as a Enganche. Would need us to think about our attacking play, but could be a interesting role for him considering there not expected to drive with the ball but instead stay in the middle of the midfield and attack and pass it through the lines.

The key was Barry Bannan to be fair more than coaching?

Who did we play when he did that sexy back heel pass out wide right around the penalty box, Torp here I'm talking about?

You obviously have vague recollections of the sexy bits while ignoring the poor passes and the times he has got turned over and put us under pressure. That has been his theme this season. At the start of the season I hoped he would kick on, but he hasn't.
