Thought that was the best we have played for a long time and we definitely, for the first time in a long time watching the Iron, made use of the extra man. Bringing Hakeeb on gave us a bit more pace and directness.

Not sure what Reda was doing for the red card. Lyle definitely wound him up but there was no need to nut him twice (Think the ref missed it the first time!)

Think we'd have been happy to take a draw with 11 v 11 but we needed that luck the way our season is going. We've had a hell of a lot of injuries and were missing at least 3 key players this evening so was obviously delighted when we scored the second. A great second goal for us, fantastic cross and a bullet header.

Didn't see anything to back up the claims you will win the league, but circumstances went against you tonight. You have a good manager and I'm sure you will be up there. I'm still not sure about ours...
Looking forward to a visit to the Ricoh... love that Casino

We definitely won't win the league and we know it. Playoffs at best.

Regarding tonight, thought we were looking comfortable, although not at our best, until Reda's moment of madness. There was a long way to go and suspect it cost us 3 points. Always going to struggle playing with 10 for so long.

I see this is revenge for stealing Leon Clarke off us... You had no cash but managed to offer him a permanent deal and we got relegated...

Trouble with short term loans. We may have the same issue come January if Nouble keeps up his form.

There was a post I read on here suggesting you would! I think you may get in the play offs but have seen a few better teams so far: Bristol, Chesterfield, Swindon & Preston

Got to bear in mind you saw a team playing with one man less for the majority of the game. Not a true reflection.

You were very poor and if we kept 11 on the pitch you were not going to win. Agreed no need for reda to react like he did but then when a player is using elbows then that will annoy any player.

Thought the ref was very kind to scunthorpe , think after we went 1-0 up we would have gone on to see out the game comfortably , reda was idiotic to respond to taylor however he should have blown for the foul that led to the incident , instead he never and the rest is history , i also cannot believe the same player made 2 tackles in the middle from behind that were both fouls without issuing a card , the first half i witnessed one of the worst refereeing displays for an awful long time . all in all i dont expect coventry to go out and win with flair , or dominate every match , thats not how football works .
well done on the victory and good luck for the season

ps.....the 1st goal should have been given as offside
fantastic officiating today

The way we are playing at the moment, we will not win the league. But the side are gelling and developing well and the play offs should be a realistic target

How can you properly judge a team that played 3/4 of the match with 10 men ffs? Ridiculous to make comparisons.

Ps no sane City fan thinks we will win the league.

Play well against the good sides,,...

Chuck it away against the shite !

I've seen 30 years of this and it's great to see we're still keeping the tradition flying high .

Still, if we go the season losing one in eight we'll be there or there about

Honestly, last night we started a little slower than usual but we did look like we could still spring forward with efficiency, something that was proven for the opening goal, at that point we looked settled and based on form I backed us to go on and win, however that changed when Reda got sent off, some people say he did, some people said he didn't, however Pressley and Reda's reaction after defeat tells you all need to know, despite that the referee and his official were atrocious.. The first goal for Scunthorpe was offside and by that I mean the way McSheffery came back from an offside position to pick up the ball to get it to Madden.

Second half Scunny brought on a sub with decent pace and it was always going to be difficult as they looked to hit us with speed and ultimately it paid off, after that we seemed to wake up, we brought on Miller and Swanson and we looked a lot better and gave it a go up until the end.

As for the season honours go, to say we will win the league is vivid by any stretch of the imagination, however we are only 8 games in, there is a long way to go and we are in as good as place as any to do well (4 points off second), with regards to Scunthorpe, you'll need to hope last nights result will be the catalyst to your season otherwise unfortunately I can see you heading back to which you came.

Can I also say out of the 20 odd years I have watched the City, last nights referee was one of the worst, coupled with his officials a blind man and a dog could have officiated better, no concept of the little tricks and constant fouls that Scunthorpe were committing yet very quick to blow in there direction, only emphasised by the fact that City fans celebrated when he gave a decision our way like we had scored.

Well done on your win, but just two things.

1. Thought that was the best we have played for a long time - Errrr .... you played against 10 men for 66 minutes

2. Didn't see anything to back up the claims you will win the league - Errr ....... we played with only 10 men for 66 minutes.

Absolute bullshit. I think we will win.

I think we have as good as chance as any although Bristol City have made a pretty decent start..

Perfectly put.. what a clown the OP is.. mind you when you beat a team bigger than you, you have to be pleased.

thats a view of an iron not of from an iron

Incorrect!

That is an ironing board and if you were an iron the view you would have would be that of looking down from the iron onto the ironing board. Pretty much all an iron sees most of the time.

:D

The defence rests.

No, this iron is way up in the clouds, happy that a light blue coloured shirt it was due to contend with got removed early on and it could then just breeze through the next hour or so putting very minimal effort in and not even having to break sweat.

Or in this case, steam.
