Tell you what if this is true then we are in for a great summer

Makes sense as to why it seems Sheaf is staying aswell
I would of the release clause means payment in full to be activated and they want to break it down over a longer period, may mean more money…although anything additional is great news!

I posted on Facebook yesterday to suggest the extension to early bird is to allow time for transfer business to happen. The man himself liked the post.

Could be an indication that he is part of that equation.

Be enough that we have another summer of people moaning that Doug isn't spending his own money
No one should moan but it might just be a factual point? Personally, I hope Doug is putting the money aside in a way that generates income to cover overheads.

Because most likely at this point no one thinks he is worth or will pay anywhere near the ridiculous fees being thrown around on here?

If your location wasn’t in your username I’d be convinced you were my mate who also hates Sheaf for no reason other than the fact everyone rates him

I don't hate him. I think he's a good player. I just think he's become so overrated to the point that there's a delusion state going on where people have got carried away. He has some really weak parts of his game, and when he does something bad, or doesn't play well, the same people have conveniently gone to buy a hot dog every single time and then parrot that he had a good game because it's an easy/safe comment to make that isn't likely to get challenged.

Some of the amounts quoted for him (especially when you contrast with Eccles and Hamer) are absolutely lunatic levels of fan girling that you would normally expect to see from the likes of Liverpool fans about their players, not humble Coventry City.

If we can get a good amount of money for him then I've said repeatedly that I think we will be better off reinvesting, but at the moment it doesn't seem likely - which like I said, despite some stupid football owners that exist in this world, is no surprise to me.

We've had a bid of 15 mil and it was turned down, (I think by the player and his reps).
If the right club come in he'll be gone.
I like him and although I agree with a lot of your criticism I think he's improved a lot in recent months.

However for that money we should be able to get a more than adequate replacement and still have a decent chunk left for further investment.

I have no inside knowledge whatsoever, but as much a fan as I am of Sheaf (and always have been, despite the regular howlers in 20/21), I don’t see any way on earth that we have turned down £15m for him. I understand you said that HE turned it down, but I think the club would be (as politely as they can!) pushing him out of the doors for that sum!

He improves every team in our division, is very likeable, decent disciplinary record….. but I’m arrogantly assuming almost everyone on this forum would take £15m for him without hesitation.

Edit: forgive me if I’ve misunderstood you. I’ve had a few after the England game…

That bid happened.
