He's got double figures four times in his career, and one of thse was when Rangers bullied their way up from the lower leagues.
Goalscorer, he ain't.
He might bring other qualities, but you wouldn't sign him for his goalscoring... unless you're comparing to O'Hare, anyway!
I still don't think he's a poor signing (but my, he was bad at the weekend!) but my general point is he ain't your bang in a load of goals striker - I'd say poor man's Adrian Heath, but at his peak with Everton, Heath was a guaranteed double figures a season striker.TBF his record has been 200-400 MPG at this level relatively consistently until this season where it’s over 800 MPG. Whatever the reason he’s had an abnormally poor season with us for goal scoring.View attachment 24010

Walker and Godden are the 'goalscorers' really, with Waghorn and Gyorkeres being the goal providers with punch. I'd be surprised if Gyokeres could maintain his scoring form of early season consistently through his career unless he improves his finishing.
He is. The concern in a general sense would be last season was fairly poor for him too, so got to hope it's a blip because of circumstance, and not his general decline. No I’d agree, just saying that by his own standards he’s having a poor season. Probably fitness and covid.
Would another club pay the wages he's on here doubtful with how this season has gone? Would imagine he would sit out the final year of his contract? He signed a two year contract I doubt he will see that out, think he will move on before that
Probably not, but if Cov cut their losses gave him a free transfer he could then negotiate his own deal & signing on fee or as you say sit out his last year.Would another club pay the wages he's on here doubtful with how this season has gone? Thought Waghorn started off really well early season and was starting to develop a good partnership with Viktor - Don't get it with these fans- you don't become a bad player overnight - The guy hasn't played for 3 or 4 months needs games in his legs - training does not give you the same- I am sure the management team are closely monitoring his fitness and have the patience to give it time which he needsWe’ve taken 10 points out of the last 15. Yesterday we saw one of the most memorable late equalizers in CBS history. That goal was scored by a young player with fantastic potential. We have a real chance of the play offs which is amazing. And a week’s rest to regroup.
Yet some on here prefer to spend their time targeting and slagging off one of our own players?

Some players do go from good to bad players quickly, not overnight but over a period of months. Waghorn was a 1 in 6 striker last season and has regressed further this year while also having covid issues.Thought Waghorn started off really well early season and was starting to develop a good partnership with Viktor - Don't get it with these fans- you don't become a bad player overnight - The guy hasn't played for 3 or 4 months needs games in his legs - training does not give you the same- I am sure the management team are closely monitoring his fitness and have the patience to give it time which he needs
How old was Ian wright when he began to shine, Jamie Vardy another, this lad does have potential and if he can reproduce finishes like he did on Saturday he'll soon be in the starting 11All credit to Tavares for his goal but does he really have 'fantastic' potential? He's 21 and still predominantly plays in the U23s.

What losses? we signed him after his contract expired didn't we?Probably not, but if Cov cut their losses gave him a free transfer he could then negotiate his own deal & signing on fee or as you say sit out his last year.

You're right they are exceptions and I have no idea whether the lad will make it or not but scoring the amount of goals he has and that finish on Saturday leads me to believe he has potentialI think those examples are exceptions rather than the rule really.
It's clear Tavares has raw ability but to say he has 'fantastic' potential when he's 21 and has only featured twice for us is very OTT.
Equally, arguing against that on the basis that he might become another Ian Wright is a bit ridiculous.
You made a cracking point once , so whatAshley Cain scored a cracking goal once

Both of those strikers (Ian Wright, Vardy) had a long time in their early 20’s non-league. Often such players play on until their mid 30’s. I guess Godden may too. As too Fadz - both non-league early on.How old was Ian wright when he began to shine, Jamie Vardy another, this lad does have potential and if he can reproduce finishes like he did on Saturday he'll soon be in the starting 11
Was that in pre-season, or his Mansfield 1? I can't see any other sign of it:Ashley Cain scored a cracking goal once
I remember him running around fast a bit and getting fans going but ultimately being way out of his depth with a poor touch and awareness. No sign of that in Tavarez cameos so far, quite the opposite.
He must nearly be as good as Lukaku then! He’s touched the ball, what, five times?
To be fair Lukaku's 8 touches were over 90 minutes not 4.He must nearly be as good as Lukaku then!
