I haven’t read through the thread but is it possible to obtain Walkers running stats?
A good finisher and he was unlucky to be dropped after getting 2 in 2 but he ‘appears’ more laid back than say, Godden.
Id be interested to see his running stats/miles per game etc.
Good post and well argued. However, footballs all about opinions and godden and gyokeres will be robins first choice and I don’t think Walker will break that up.Did you go to either if Blackburn or Preston by any chance? (Not a pop just interested) It's certainly not natural to his game but Preston in particular he was doing more than his fair share of work "defending from the front".
Ok another note. I think it's overstated this defending front the front especially with Walker, simply because the likes of Godden and Waghorn are willing to chase down lost causes or sacrifice positional awareness in the hope of forcing a mistake (which is great at certain times and is a valid tactic with plenty of joy against Fulham). Walker doesn't do that as often, but he he adds a different dynamic and looks a threat. How many times have we seen it in recent seasons where one of our strikers is isolated, or only one person in the box to attacks a cross etc. Walker is far better at saving his energy for what he is on the pitch for, scoring goals, yes it's a team sport and certain games will dictate that we need wags or Godden but Walker is more than deserving of a starting place at this level for me.
Just to add onto this, the fact that our attacking players have to do so much defensive work I think counts against them at times ( I completely support pressure from the front it's the right way to play, and suits us to the ground). Particularly O'Hare who I think would potentially have a far better attacking output if he wasn't having to bust a gut constantly, which although is a massive positive to his game, is only naturally going to slow his decision making through fatigue. It seems at times that if he was just a split second faster in the head he would score/assist far more often. That's based on nothing but an opinion but interesting to see what people think.
Yeah, deffo 4 different types. 1 excellent one, 1 good one, 1 average one, you can guess the rest....I think to have 4 different types of striker to choose from robins position is something he could of only dreamed of 2or 3 season's back and keeps everyone on there toes.
2 in 2 then dropped and brought on with 1 minute left when 2-1 down. Very poor management.

It’s becoming clearer week by week he doesn’t rate him.
More budget wasted
Rose would have far more reason to be upsetIf I was Walker I would be walking into Robins office and asking to go on the transfer list.
Scores 2 in 2 (and from open play) gets dropped. Then when you're playing a team with a high line, your strikers not playing well and is constantly offside a goal down at home, throw him on for 3 minutes.

He wouldn’t have much of a career if he does. He deserved the time Jones got tonight but gyokeres and godden were looking like getting a goal. It was pointless to put him on for a minute although if maatsen had played a better ball he may well have got the equaliser in added timeIf I was Walker I would be walking into Robins office and asking to go on the transfer list.

I thought that, or even chuck Fads up for the last 20 minutes and play long. We needed a plan b.Could have taken a CB off and gone 3 up top. Anything!

Obviously your football prowess knows no bounds then mate. Do you think robins kept them on for fun? Cause he hates walker or cause he wanted to lose the game?I was watching the one where we lost 2-1 and our CBs looked the most likely to score

You do realise it's possible for Robins to have made the wrong decision, right? He isn't some omnipotent God. Godden was shit and Gyokeres isn't at it. Keeping them both on for 89 minutes was madness.Obviously your football prowess knows no bounds then mate. Do you think robins kept them on for fun? I think part of our problem is we've been too reliant on Gyo to produce the goals and now the well has run dry. Walker, Godden or Waghorn are not at the same level as a 100% fit/firing Gyo. Last season Hamer used to score at a decent clip, but is now gun shy. Also, last season Osti used to be an attacking threat from corners and free-kicks while McCallum used to catapult throw-ins into dangerous areas and chip in a few goals as well. But now we don't seem to have anyone else who is a real attacking/goal-scoring threat.Think that crunching foul at Blackburn slightly neutralised him in the following games. Can see how much we rely on him being on it
